I read the incinerate post you made, and yea, that is quite ridiculous, the only suggestion i can think of for you is to have a Flame totem somehwere for when those mobs pop up, cause 1 LT mob+incinerate=your death.. as well as use conversion traps etc. but yeah try to see if flame totem helps, summon some skeles so you have something to tank for you


Well, the whole point of the post was that thorns ended up as a non-issue because of large skill selection, fire trap and molten shield (not 100% certain about that one) don't trigger LT, flame totem kills itself and fireball doesn't do enough hits to off you even with LMP on.


I read your incinerate post, I even told one of my in-game buddies about it as I was replying to the thread.
I understand there are other skills and workarounds.

Currently my game-plan to fight LT enemies is to weapon swap to an axe+board, leap slam around till I can get into some favorable position (faster attacks+7 frenzy charges with leap slam is FAST AS HELL), and swap back and ATTEMPT to use Frenzy to down the casters one at a time.

If I'm in a cramped space (Dungeon/Tunnel map etc.) then this simply is not possible and I have to resort to firing very sparingly at the shield guys when I see LT is not on them. Sometimes they'll gain LT while I'm firing, and I'll lose 3/4 of my hp almost immediately. That's ridiculous. Even when I'm careful this skill is broken.

give LA and any other infinite ranged attack a limited distance would make it abit more fair for all

Projectiles do have a limited range. Most arrow-based attacks will only fly a very small distance off the screen, but projectile speed increases the speed at which the arrows travel without changing how long they'll stay active, allowing you to fire them multiple screens away.

Perhaps, as there are already very nasty combinations, a group of multiprojectile voidbears in docks will fry most melees in a jiffie. If it's only one rare with mp you got a sporting chance but vs several blues - hardly any. You really got to have some distraction handy just in case of such an encounter or perhaps a semilevelled frost armor, even on low skill levels it helps immensely.

Maybe both LT and voidbear problem could be handled by introducing 'spell damage reduced by X' as a common mod on gear. However, mod pool on most equipment types is already overcrowded, it would be too much to have another mod to look for besides defense, life, ele resist, chaos...
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Lightning thorns almost kills me with my LA+LMP even without Chain. LA Builds where really great for some time but now i would need to hire a recon, better a spy satellite to make this playable again. Just dont know how i should be able to control offscreen results with my pewpew all the time. There is always still something left a little further away.

Only solution i could think of would be giving my Iceshot-LMP-FasterAttack Totem the LA+Chain and i use Iceshot myselves, but this sucks. At least Chain will drop in price for sure lol.

Btw does anyone know the xyz in "thorns does 1-xyz damage per hit"?

Didn't read the entire thread, but this sums up my feelings. Whether it's their intention or not though, I'm not sure people will bother using specific counters for this. At least for me the zone with these mobs have become yet another in a long list that I just run through without killing anything (except the dude for the quest). I just can't be bothered single target killing white mobs and still risk a instant death.
