What bugs me is all the ranged people trying to frame it like they have it worse now. What's all this crap about melee being able to see enemies sooner and are therefore better able to react? And ranged having uber number of hits per second that makes melee trivial in comparison?
Lightning thorns has **always** been this painful, if not more so, prior to the nerf. Those mages used to cast more frequently, from further away, and thorns actually hurt way more.
Reaction time? Granted melee don't get to kill things 2 screens away, but it used to be those mages would spam thorns on everything you touched **while** you were attacking. Nothing was touchable with AoE as long as one or two of them were even nearby. Be thankful you don't have to deal with mages with what seemed like fast-casting support equipped. We haven't even gotten to how desync and lag typically affect melee more than ranged.
I agree ranged generally have faster attacks, but melee have their own problems too which should not be trivialized. Cyclone requires you to commit to a attack path which cannot be stopped halfway. Imagine how fun or usable this skill was with the pre-nerf mages around...
Is it so necessary to step on melee to make your points? Especially when it's debatable whether ranged actually does have it harder now than pre-nerf melee...
who gives a crap who has it worse as long as it isn't totally unplayable for either?
I can't speak for melee since I don't play it, But my Multishot LMP Chain Ranger is Raped on almost Every map due to this stupid change. This is becoming a lot more like diablo 3's initial way of thinking "every fight should be a challenge" Which they have now gone back on from pressure from the community. It's NOT about whether or not you can kill a mob, but how fast and efficiently you can do a run. That's always what ARPG Loot games have been about.
Completely giving up on my ranged character until they change their stupid 'nerf'
So i hear melee is unplayable too? Maybe I'll just quit.

Ran Promenade map today. I knew the last boss casts lightning thorns. As soon as I saw the boss I retreated far enough away to safely swap out some gems. I put quality LGOH and 8% LL gem into my attack. I have over 5k hp and 80% all resist. Started in on boss, everything was going great, hp not moving. Then in the MIDDLE of a multistrike animation, boss casts lightning thorns and I died INSTANTLY. This ability is broken beyond anything else in this game. There should be nothing and I mean nothing that can kill me with 68 life per hit, 8% life leech, 11% physical life leech in less than 1/2 second. NOTHING. Fix it, please this is not a fun mechanic.
I'm all for hard mechanics, but instantly pwning yourself with zero time to react even after careful planning is absolutely game breaking for me.
I wish I were lying or exaggerating about how quickly thorns kills, but I am not. We need SOME time to react/retreat and heal, something ffs.
Thats pretty insane, I had to abandon a lvl66 map with spawned with the lightning witches and shield chargers. Lvl 18 Quality LGOH and 8% Life Leech was not enough to mitigate the damage from lightning thorns (there were about 3-4 thorned enemies)

wow..
finally something prevents you from spamming LA to complete destruction and zero challenge and you cry as if the game is broken.
use poison arrow a little, and please quit.

Okay pal guess what you do not have chain attached to GMP which bounces from multiple targets and I'll make a picture for you... big pack of mobs and Multiple thorns which I did not see... and my LA bouncing alllllllll over the place.... GGG I'd say and 1 shot. So how is this good?
you are able to do that much damage to mobs that cant even see or attack you yet?
ya LA needs a nerf.
