MMORPG.com Reveals: Catarina, Master of the Dead and Rampage League

I havent yet read/watched more than the first few rows on the MMORPG page, and neither all theese pages here I will however do that after this post.(Dreadful site/page with way much fluff and much more to whine about im sure so I digress)

I wanted to say (and will now say): Too much teasing & no content.

If only you could get the expansion done much earlier than anticipated? "Surprise Release" hype! Oh wait...did I just jinx us all?

Again way too much teasing/hype as im getting "blueballs already" & I dont know how much more I can take? Awaiting Release...(Hmm i figure, this comment to be removed by mod)

OMG IM SOOO HYYYPUUUEEED! - Where is my defib?

Best wishes to yall teasers and all the nice people, aswell as the bungholes in this great community.

I imagine it would make a really awesome race modifier though. If I had to guess the future uses of Rampage this would be my best bet.

Also, a 325 kill count? Really? Who will ever see that? Some areas I cannot even charge up Vaal Summon Skeletons before the area is cleared. Even if you somehow have an area with 325 enemies to kill, what would be the point of having an effect go off at that point? Everything would already be dead. If I want to see some fireworks with no effect, I can watch someone use some "win fireworks".

But remember, this is also the expansion with the master's quests. If you're defending a position against waves of enemies, I bet your kill count could rocket past 325 easy!

Furthermore, you have to stop and pick up items. I'm not leaving things I need on the ground to keep up some kill streak that is completely unnecessary, especially if playing in a party. In a party, you cannot leave the stuff on the ground and go back for it after the fact. Anything of value will be gone, not that I would retrace my steps afterwards to pick things up when playing solo either. Waste of time.

Why is everyone worried about party loot? This situation already exists; people in parties break from the fight to go grab loot as it becomes available. Just play in Perm Alloc parties exclusively. Problem solved.

I was afraid this xpac was going to be lame, but so far nothing but hype. GGG, you rock.

Been hoping for a monster kill-counter almost since I started this game years ago. Its finally coming! :D

Me love you long time~
RIP squid summoners.
Am I only one disappointed with Rampage league? It just not fit into POE. I was expecting something more of spawn event, like boxes in previous season.

I do have to agree with a lot of the general sentiment around this.

While having the kill-streak alive to improve clear-speed and everything is fun, I feel like there should be a counterbalance to it that promotes GETTING those streaks. Something like you're permanently facing Fleet monsters the entire league.

Edit: I also don't see how this could get implemented as a core game mechanic without seeming a bit silly. It's fine for a 3-month league, but doesn't seem reasonable for an aRPG as a permanent fixture.

Oh, Idunno... Lots of games have kill streaks or powerups or double points for certain things that don't REALLY matter as much as give more competitive players extra elements to play wiht.

I have always been a casual, loot-hoarder type player. I gotta say tho, yes, it started to get repetitive and stale after a while. So i started Racing. Mostly to get uniques cuz my rarity find was abysmal. Racing taught me a way of playing the game I had not considered before. It rekindled my love of the game... My point is that I really appreciate how GGG aims to deliver a game that allows for diversity of playstyles. I mean, you can't please everyone, but I think GGG's love of games and being gamers themselves, really shows in what they develop.

From what I can tell so far, I would not mind if the Rampage/kill streak feature were implemented as a fundamental game mechanic -- aside from the Challenges associated with the Rampage league, kill streak seems entirely ignorable if your gameplay chooses to ignore it. Like, I'm gonna give it a try, but I know I'm not a fast enough player to really make it one of my core tactics. This is why I don't use the Reave or Bloodrage skills, LOL. I have a hard time keeping up serial kills.

A benefit of the Rampage feature, though, I think, will be m giving us a bit of an edge when being literally MOBBED by mobs -- either by rushing in, or just finding ourselves unlucky. With stun especially on lower level characters or crap-geared characters, I have died from being hit too many times sequentially by a group of monsters (not even scary ones) who collectively hit harder and faster than i do. It'd be nice to know there is a free spell or attack waiting to help me out if i can just kill 20 of the monsters before losing my cool. I mean, this is why Cast on Damage Taken is so popular, right? And why so many people use it defensively? I think killstreak will give us more flexibility but is in no way required to play the game. Although I am guessing the waves of Monsters for players who engage Atriri will probably benefit from rampaging. And also farmers. Probably a lot more Permanent Allocation groups, too.
Mixed feelings here about Rampage guys.

I love the sound of it, Im excited, the hype is there, but do I see it as a permanent feature of PoE just going on the small info we have? Not rly man. I do however want to play it, for sure, Im gonna love playing this.

I made a post a while back, I dunno if you guys at GGG ever read it, about player stress and adding "fun" weekend/1week/2week race leagues towards the end of the main ladders to spice things up. The idea is that these things would contain mechanics that majorly change the game play in ways that we wouldnt want in the main version of the game but would be super exciting to play as an occasional thing, rather than a 1 week repetition of the same old thing we love but need a break from now and then.

This definitely sounds like one of those things, super fun, exciting, doing something really different built on top of the game we love but essentially more of a shorter lived gimmick (and I say that for want of a better term as it can be taken as a negative which I dont intend).

Maybe, as some people have said already, this is more the vision for Rampage. A league, we have our fun, then long term its a map mod, race mod, short fun league mod that can be pulled out of the hat here and there to give us a break from the very serious game we play full time.

We dunno the full info yet, all the details, no idea how it will play out so I guess we will wait and see and Im looking forward to playing it. Could well be that in practice its a lot more balanced and somewhat subtle than it sounds from this short description.

That's obviously from an escort quest, they mention escorts in the vid.
