[2.0] THOR'S RAINBOWNUKE: DO ALL MAPS, UBER ATZIRI, AND EXPLOSIONS!
" As stated in the OP, you're best bet is to level with something else and switch to this around level 70-75. If you don't have Mjolner and Volls, you should look into Fakener (a Cast on Crit build). Romiras is super cheap and if that's out of your price range, this build is not yet for you - play a while longer and when you build a little wealth, come back to it. Some popular ones are a CoC (Cast on Crit) build that uses the CoC gem linked to the spells of your choice, and Discharge can be one of those. You could also run a self-casted Arc build, especially now with Arc getting a buff overll and then eventually switch over once you hit the right level. Of course, that assumes you actually have the correct gear for it and while some pieces are cheaper than others, it's still an investment to get up and running. You can go LL, or if you want something a bit different then you can try the life variation I have that uses the Kingsguard chest, but it won't be low-like in that regard. Though it still has its advantages.

Ok, so the couple of tweaks to this build seem to make it even stronger, I might be able to get to level 96 w/o having to take out my quantity gem which will be great.
Question on Blasphemy though (which is great so far). How does this interact with my cast on damage / enfeeble setup? Does Blasphemy render this useless? |
|
" Unfortunately, your Cast when Damage Taken Enfeeble will be rendered useless if you run Blasphemy+another curse(unless you raise your maximum curse limit). However, if you can afford the mana reservation cost, you can swap out the CwDT gem with Blasphemy, and you will be able to run a higher level Enfeeble that is applied constantly to nearby enemies. To put some math on the 2.1 buffs, I've got 22% more damage on Discharge and 40% more on arc than in 2.0, with Warlord's Mark always applied to everything. I have 6% less Energy shield.

If anyone wants a recommendation for how to level for this build, I believe I know a decent answer now: grab a Tabula Rasa and just use Flame Totem in a 6L. Requires basically zero gear and zero passive investment so you won't have to use too many regrets when you switch to Rainbownuke around level 65-75.
Using Ancestral Bond and very minimal gear, I think I'm going to be able to level my Shadow for this build just fine. Currently level 42 and this is the setup... I expect to make it to level 70 without any real improvement to this setup except to swap in some better ES gear and resists as it's available for Merciless, and then at level 70 I'll spec out of the starting damage nodes on the Shadow tree as well as Ancestral bond and equip my Mjolner gear (lvl 70 required for my level 21 gems).

This build is a LOT different than CoC builds as far as passive tree and gear since it does not use crit and CoC builds maximize crit. If you don't have Mjolner/Volls and you don't see yourself acquiring at least a Mjolner soon, you should look at other builds.
I was able to rush A1-3 Cruel very quickly with just a Tabula and dual flame totem... Normal difficulty was a bit slow but once I got over to Ancestral Bond and 2x Totem, it became MUCH faster. Just took a couple hours to go from Twilight Strand to a Dominus kill for me in cruel. The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard

I have just finalized my 2.1 build. Overall, I lost around 6% reduction in ES, but I gained 20% increased damage output due to Repentance. Personally, I did not have to make much adjustments to my build as I could always run a spare aura.
I am currently utilizing the Blasphemy Gem in conjunction with Elemental Weakness to chew through enemy resistances. Also, I dropped my Flame Golem for Leap Slam so as to improve my mobility and fight initiation capabilities. Despite the loss of the Flame Golem's damage bonus, the repentance gloves gave me sufficient spell damage for me to see a 20% increase in overall damage. All in all, I sacrificed a small amount of ES for significantly more damage and mobility. My Gear Set-Up:
