You may test it out for yourself... I always liked firetrap's consistent AoE... but, if ya feel like it sure, even if it's worse it's not by far, and you won't lose much precious time. :)

Haven't done any testing with it, but from the looks of it, ofc it's viable. It's slower though I'd say than icenova/firetrap when you gather a crowd/racing.

Spelldmg/cast speed/totem dmg/fire dmg/elemental dmg. All those affect. :)

So, maybe I missed a part of the guide but why would you not take permanent curses+extra curse? They are close to your tree and you could have enfeeble + flammability or whatever. Wouldn't that be super efficient for this build?????

I read through some comments and it surprises me that nobody spoke about it. (although I may have missed it) I would really like some insight on this because I might just have to take that based on my personal knowledge of the nodes.

For me it didn't add to survivability which I focused on. About it, I don't need the perma-curse part... as for dual curses just get a deodre's ring (enf + temp ch) or (flam + el weak).

Perm. curse is a nice feature when solo, being that you can forget about it once it's done even if you portal out, for me... not really my thing. :)

Hey I am truly novice at the game so will be ready for stupid questions a lot. Firstly, which is your dps dealing with totems? How many AR doy you have? Which is your general way to protect the character - ES, AR, Arctic Armour or something else? Do you deal incinirate? If I play at Ambush League can I lose several % to hp to gain more dps? Thanks for all in advance!

Yeah sure, no problem.

Well before I say my dps let me say few things first.

1. I didn't take any dmg nodes I didn't need to, felt dps was great throughout.
2. My gear is crap. (low spell dmg on spectre/no spelldmg on shield)
3. It's on a 4L helm, and gems are still not leveled let alone quality. (flame totem is lvl 17 if I recall)

So... I currently use GMP setup, and dmg is around 1k tooltip dps. Sounds crappy? It kinda is, considering the potential. You can easily get 2-3k with better gear, more links and speccing into dmg more. Even more if you go for a crit flame totems and add in Three Dragons helm (which is good even without crit)... but anyhow.

Why I felt 1k was more than enough? Because, two totems, easy shotgunning, fire pen etc.

1k x 5 (gmp) x 2 (totems) x 1.33 (fire pen) x 1.5 (flamability) = 20k dmg when shotgunning. Now that doesn't sound as bad as 1k doesn't it.

Next... I barely have armor (300 I think).

I protect my char by being a totem summoner 95% of time, which is I'm not attacking and have two re-usable meatshields to do things for me. So unlike a ranger, or a melee guy etc. stuff isn't attacking me 95% of time. When they are, I use (personally) AA and MoM from Cloak of Defiance, and set of staunching/quicksilver when needed, light warp... you're not supposed to be taking any dmg. I have effective 5.5k or 6k pool to be extra safe when I do, 'cause invasion was/is (haven't played in a while) very scary at the beginning.

No incinerate, my char can't deal dmg 'cause Ancestral Bond. I'd say you can lose without a hitch a third of hp nodes, especially if they are crap 6% ones to get dmg nodes, not just can... but it's kinda recommended. ~3k HP is more than enough, if you get Cloak of Defiance 1k or close to it unreserved and you're golden. "Sad" truth is, totem users solo and especially in parties should be self-minded, meaning everything with a HP bar is a meatshield. :p Most of time in parties if you play like you should everyone should die before you do (logout) XD

That's it really, in addition I kept it as simple... so you can get X uniques to improve the build, can do 5/6L as well, do AR/ES gear as whole if you want, I was self-found for the most part, and you can be pure self-found if you want, it's very easy. :)

i went for more def by taking resistence and shield nodes. first time i use aa. i have problems to keep aa running. only have 150 m/sec and low armor +3200 life. with a "low" level aa i dont think i survive my first devourer encounter. how did you progressed with aa leveling?

Since it's a 2-week charity race... suggest picking your battles, also strongboxes... unless really familiar with them and this build, be extra careful.

Aside from that, since picking shield nodes... consider that shield is really bad even if self-found... because it has only 24% chance to block. Consider getting a 30% or so shield, and try rolling 4-6% block mod, then if you got regal it.

I still think you shouldn't care that much about armor, just your play. You didn't say level but I believe it's about 65~or so? So try pushing that health a bit, get that 8% life witch node. As for AA, see if you can get it on rings/amy/shield, the mana regen.

With 150/s and your AA draining 90 or so when running I don't see a problem. Get dex if you need and level it. Also for more regen use Discipline, I don't see it on you.
And yeah, resistances are very important, especially with invasion bosses that curse.

P.S. Armor is good, but I feel you shouldn't care that much... a granite or two will do more than few % armor nodes that could be spent on life nodes, or even shield/mana/mana regen nodes.

Similar to this, I was wondering why you picked up the Lord of the Dead keystone above witch start. I thought totems didn't benefit from any minion buffs?
