I care because I dislike games with limited, one-of-a-kind rewards or items. I already find legacy items to be a terrible concept, and now we get cosmetic stuff that is completely and permanently unavailable to the vast majority of the playerbase. Recolored stuff is fine, but this doesn't seem to fall in that category.

I'd have preferred a dungeon that is very hard and that you may spend months on defeating, but then everyone can obtain the reward. Most people would still never get it (just like most people never complete a level 78 map, and the dungeon will be harder), but everyone could work toward that goal if they wished. I shouldn't have to take off work for two weeks or spend 100s on a RMT site (those rare colored masks on Steam went for hundreds, so people's willingness to pay whatever it takes to get very rare cosmetic items is definitely there) to have a chance -- and neither is an option for me that I would seriously consider.

I just think the premise is flawed and shows a disregard for the playerbase as a whole and demonstrates a design approach I find unappealing. If you see that differently, it's fine. Go ahead and give them some money. I certainly won't be spending any more if they continue in this direction. If you like it, support the direction with money.
what does atziri actually drop if anything? what area level is the apex of sacrifice?

Again I ask, after using a vaal orb on an item, does that mean you aren't even able to use armorers/whetstones to improve quality? That would seem a little silly. I kind of assume you won't be able to use chromatics, but I then wonder, what happens to the current socket colors when you use a vaal orb? Does it keep the original and make some white, or does it randomize them and then make some white? If the latter, these orbs would be pretty useless on 6links unless you were loaded with eternals.

Currency. The word Chris used to describe the items you CANNOT use on corrupted items was "Currency".

Because I keep seeing this question crop up, allow me to clarify for those who didn't finish reading Chris's sentence:

corrupted items cannot have further currency applied to them

You cannot use the following on corrupted items:
-Albino Rhoa Feathers
-Scrolls of Wisdom
-Portal Scrolls
-Orbs of Regret
-Glassblower's Baubles
-Armourer's Scraps
-Blacksmith's Whetstones
-Orbs of Augmentation
-Orbs of Transmutation
-Chromatic Orbs
-Orbs of Alteration
-Jeweller's Orbs
-Orbs of Chance
-Cartographer's Chisels
-Orbs of Scouring
-Orbs of Fusing
-Orbs of Alchemy
-Blessed Orbs
-Chaos Orbs
-Vaal Orbs
-Regal Orbs
-Gemcutter's Prisms
-Divine Orbs
-Exalted Orbs
-Eternal Orbs
-Mirrors of Kalandra

Anything that is not on this list can probably be used on corrupted items.
Items pending further testing:
-Alteration Shards
-Transmutation Shards

I'll get back to you on these.

Well this is super disappointing. I thought the vaal orb would be like a chaos and you could reroll til you get the mod you want. Pretty stupid to use if you can never use currency on the item again. Seriously diminished my excitement for the new league.

Really dude? who cares.
A lot of ppl care. A lot would like to see GGG make more out of the game but even if that can't happen ppl still care and express themselves--maybe not the care-less like you.

It's just something people should accept. Just enjoy the fact that GGG is highly involved in their community.

A race is a race. Clearly the people who can play way more are going to win it. Playtime ALONE doesn't mean you are going to win though. If your life doesn't allow you to play that much, so be it. Not everyone can win everything. It really is just a game in the end.

I don't play enough to win these things, but I do plan on playing a ton the first couple days the of the new leagues and I'm looking forward to that.

Everyone needs to just stop nitpicking every choice that a gaming company makes. It's impossible to please everyone all the time. The constant nitpicking and QQing is what is ruining games these days because company's become highly influenced by the people, whether it's intentional or not.

Gotta say, D3 ain't got shit on POE. GGG proves once again they love arpg games and push the envelope.

I will play the new leagues for sure since the Atziri content is more for elite players. I cant wait!!! Need more char slots, bundles please GGG!!!
I haven't read all the replies but I'm gonna make a guess about how vaal orbs will work.

I remember hearing that they will be pretty common(chaos orb like) so it really doesn't make sense that you'll have to eternal every time before you corrupt(and I'm pretty sure you'll not be able to use the imprint after and do that kind of stuff).
So I assume that you'll be able to spam as many vaal orbs on some item as you like. They will just randomly chose 1 of the stats on it and change it to another random stat. If you use vaal orb on corrupted item the effect of the previous corruption will be reversed first.

That's just the only thing that make sense to me but I may be totally wrong. Sure vall orbs are currencies but kinda new one.

Anyways I can't wait to be able to test some new stuff myself.

I'm really interested in looking at the new passive tree too... :D

It is about the implication, and the direction. You know, the larger picture. One of life's lessons is that unless you speak up early, when things begin, you are in no position to complain later on, because silence does imply agreement. Or differently put: "Qui tacet consentire videtur."
Excellent!

You´re just jelly because you already know you´re not one of the 100 and try to hide that behind some argumentation. You know what dude, no matter how they would have laid out it to aquire those mtx, you wouldn´t be one of them.

Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
