GZ FranzKafka, First level 100 on nemesis league!
" Reflexes? That I move my finger trying to touch my eyeball and my eyelid closes to protect it? No I'm not talking about that. |

" I don't consider behaviour to be reflexive. Babies, yes - mainly because their brain, namely the amygdala has not fully developed yet, hence their cognitive inhibition is not developed. As we grow, our amygdala develops and we start developing the ability for cognitive inhibition. It is this that governs our behaviour and the reason there's a difference between how adults, teenagers and toddlers act, for instance. " From: "http://www.thefreedictionary.com/behaviour": " Since reflexes such as moving away your hand when you touch something very warm is a response to stimuli, it is behaviour. Although I do notice the dictionary definition seems lackluster since an increase of heart beat rate could per definiton be considered to be behaviour as well and that does seem odd to me. " I think he is talking more about the tendency a baby has to suck on things, whereas it's parents certainly did not teach him to put things in his mouth, he just did it, as almost all babies do, but yet aren't taught. Human nature is not a tangible thing. It is a metaphor describing a behavior that most humans have in common, that doesn't mean that we are innately born with said trait. Young people these days just believe every word their psych, philosophy, science teacher says and regurgitates exactly what they hear with no personal thought, I hate argueing with them. Thankfully I have no more time to argue because I'm getting off work now =D Last edited by Cribstaxx#4323 on Jan 16, 2014, 3:07:46 PM

" Proper human behaviour is governed by your higher cortical function. Reflexes, such as moving a knee jerk or ankle jerk for instance, happen due to synaptic interactions between your sensory neurons and lower motor neurons without involving higher cortical function. Moving your hand away can be considered a sort of reflex or maybe even 'behaviour', because it is a primal reflex to danger. An increase in heart rate can also be considered perhaps as a sort of 'behaviour' - because when you feel that you are in danger, your body secretes adrenaline and your sympathetic system goes into overdrive. This is also part of the thrill of playing HC. However, trying to compare the behaviour of "exploiting a bug purposefully" to that of a primal reflex is laughable, because it is in no way reflexive whatsoever. It is a decision taken after a variable amount of deliberation, depending on an individual's sense of honour/moral values or whatsoever. " Dunno if you are refering to me by that last part of your reply XD. I am just curious about the word behaviour as general terminology, didn't intend nor compare with the main subject of this topic:P. This message was delivered by GGG defence force.
