Hardcore Character Restoration after 1.0.1 Carrion Queen Bug

Please restore this player char. Whatever this is ... its lame and beyond the control of the most prepared player.

( never seen such a desync ... probably it isnt one .. it was so extreme )

I wasn't affected by the bug, but I just want to congratulate GGG for the call.

You're making an awesome job over there. Don't let some kids push you over.

Chris said it. They can and do it because it's a game-breaking bug and it's very easy to know who died to it and who didn't. The same cannot be said of pretty much every other bugs that happened.

If for example, zoning in eternal laboratory would instantly kill you, this would be a very easily verifiable bug and restores would happen again.

I'm willing to bet that if it happened in the open or even the closed beta, their reaction would have been the same. The only difference is that during closed beta, nearly nobody would have cried like it's currently the case.

And my point, as I believe I made it here and not just on reddit, is that something like this DID happen in open beta. Magic mobs did 25% more damage and rare/unique mobs did 50% more than they were supposed to. Are you going to tell me that they can tell if someone was killed by a Queen but they couldn't tell if the damage dealt to a killed player came from a buffed magic/rare/unique mob?

I find that hard to swallow.
I always find it rather hilarious when people are entitled in a way that ends up being negative towards other people. Because, face it, most of the people complaining about this are doing just that, acting entitled. "I didn't get this, so Jimmy shouldn't get it either".

While I agree touching up the descriptor for creating a Hardcore character may be nice, it's rather clear how GGG wants to go about this. They don't want to promise any type of character restorations under any circumstances, because they cannot guarantee that they will have enough information to guarantee that they are only restoring characters that are killed illegitimately through bugs. It just so happens that in this circumstance they were able to verify who died to the creatures in question, it happened in an incredibly limited time window so the people impacted couldn't of known and so since they had the information necessary they restored the characters.

Anyone who is offended their character was restored can easily just delete them. Anyone who is offended that other players characters got restored when GGG could guarantee it was due to a fault on their end is an entitled toddler and I do hope decisions like this make you quit, the community will flourish without you.

I've been looking forward to this game since I first heard about it, I didn't get lucky enough to get into the early beta and only recently came across enough free time with the Steam release to try it and I've already dropped down fifty dollars on it. Hopefully GGG continues to be reasonable in these scenarios, because it can only benefit them in the future if when they are at fault if they can remedy a problem that they do.

As a side note, because I know some mad people are going to respond to this. I haven't delved into hardcore yet, because I am not fully aware of all of the mechanics and intricacies of the game yet, but when I do get around to playing it if I did die to something like this I would likely reroll the RIP'd character anyway. People shouldn't have to if they are killed due to a problem on GGG's end and it can be completely verified. (The one exception being possibly desync, because everyone and their mother is aware of it being an issue. If you notice you are lagging in a difficult area, you leave that area. If you get unlucky, it's reroll time).
How much damage were the Carrion queens dealing?

Did it affect all monsters that looked like carrion queens (like on maps), or only those with that specific name? (or are they the same name even?)

Did some people survive the attacks? was it just 400% more damage or something? Was it so much damage that no one would survive any hit?

Very kind of you to restore those characters. The CwD nerf makes me sad like everyone else, but oh well.
