Hardcore Character Restoration after 1.0.1 Carrion Queen Bug

Well I guess some people get lucky. I dont really understand why you would take the restoration route. Any aura used to be able to kill you if you reserved the exact amount of life (100%) that you had using blood magic & no one was restored. I would be happy just to let them be dead from any and all bugs (except ones that are non-combat specific, like you die in town if you log on after 1.0.2 is released)

That said, its a small amount of people over a short period of time that were affected and it doesnt really affect me so I dont care all that much.

I actually laughed out loud at this because it was precisely casting Grace with Blood Magic on one of his low-life Sporkers that killed one of Akira's characters (I think it was him). That obviously wasn't a bug and the mechanics have since been changed to not let you reserve exactly the amount of life you have, but the example you picked was too perfect.

Bugs introduced in patches have killed characters before. This is the first time you've restored characters for it which I am aware of and I sincerely hope it is the last. The possibility for character rollbacks, especially predictable rollbacks, to be abused is too great.

I think GGG made the correct decision on this. While I respect and admire the HC players who can manage to never die up to the highest levels of the game, I do not think that their opinions are laws to be written in stone.

I'll point that if GGG restores your character and you don't think that is how HC should be played, you are free to delete the character. You aren't forced into staying in HC/Nemesis.

Now, just because MarauderXYZ accepted the restore, it doesn't mean MarauderABC has to accept it. So, GGG isn't taking away the HC essence for anyone.

I don't buy the argument about some players getting an easier game, because some people trade, some self find, some have a fast computer and low ping, others have a slow computer and lots of lag, some play solo, some group - all of which can make the game easier or harder.

If GGG had introduced a bug where every monster in the game instagibbed every player every time and then offered a restore would you feel the same way?

If not, then the arguments against this restore ring hollow.

When someone do something nice for you or to someone else, your reaction SHOULDN'T be to attack them out of spite. You should be grateful for their action because if it was you that needed help in that situation, you would have received it.
