Hardcore Character Restoration after 1.0.1 Carrion Queen Bug
I haven't lost any chars to Carrion Queen bug.
But i think that restoration in this case is the right decision. Haters gonna hate. |

Will whiners just shut up one day? Holy f... After all the work GGG have put into the game, they get mad at them for some hundreds of people who got their characters restored. oh, big deal. Why do you even CARE?
Next thing to do: just leave this game if you're so butt-hurt. Good riddance, nobody needs whiners like you around anyway. IGN: TimeForSpectralThrow / iLikeShockNova Last edited by Daxtreme#7537 on Nov 13, 2013, 1:18:09 PM

Reading through this whole thread reinforces why most players don't read the forums. Just caustic rhetoric from a minority. In my opinion, the decision to restore the affected characters with respect to this BUG was the correct decision and the right thing to do. This is especially so due to the timing of the launch and major version release.
The policy (concerning restoration in a production environment) must always be considered logically around the circumstances and on a case by case basis. There should never be any restorations during BETA event timelines... GGG is certainly doing the responsible thing here and I am glad to see that my faith in this company and the fine game they've produced continues to exceed my expectations. I am happy to support this game and the people behind it. I agree with their decisions and ethics. I can't say that about any other gaming company that I been exposed to recently. Lastly, there is no precedent in this situation. Once an asset is in a "production" mode and you have people engaged monetarily many nuances must be considered and that usually occurs on a "case by case basis"... Thanks GGG for your excellent game and your exceptional attitude towards your player base !! Last edited by Rostauf#5974 on Nov 13, 2013, 1:28:30 PM

Didn't read through all of the posts in the thread but just to get a grasp on how much damage it did, I died to a carrion queen in a 66map on my lv75 with 3500hp 75%fire res using a lv 17 Arctic Armour. the carrion queen in 1 attack hitting with 1 fireball on me hit roughly 3300 damage since I was through a doorway, where I died to the other mobs finishing off my remaining 200hp. unfortunately for me I deleted my character afterwards not knowing it was a bug, so I didn't get restored.

GGG didn't step on a slippery slope. They made a decision, and as long as they ignore all the little bitches out there, it'll be fine. If they decide to restore characters a second time some time down the road, then it happens.
People really get too excited about every little thing. |

" I play public HC and 95% of the time have to play instanced/PA to join a group. It’s a casual/hand holding setting that has NO BUSINESS being used as a default in high level HC/Nemesis type league. I swear to god the few times I do find a group using SA its ONLY because they forgot to change it or they change it as soon as anyone complains they didn’t get something. Options ≠ Choice When I ask why (and I do often just for the hell of it), it is always some variation of "because it’s easier to fight and not have to pay attention to what falls". How can I argue with that? Hey guys, let’s make it harder… just for fun? |

So, you'll restore hardcore characters for mobs doing too much damage (whether you engage those mobs or not is completely optional), but you won't restore hardcore characters getting killed by "surprise PvP" initiated by much higher level characters (not optional)? Neato.

The arguments being presented by the 'can of worms' crowd are hilarious.
If your expectations change and in the future you demand similar treatment, would you be right? Of course not! GGG might not have the means to fairly reinstate characters when a different bug happens. Or they may be feeling particularly grumpy that day and decide not to. It's up to them. HC character restoration is still not a service. It is not a service precisely because it might not be technically feasible to offer it as a service for the various situations that might arise. But if you can offer it for a certain situation that did arise, should you not to because some people will misunderstand? That's the proper 'cover my ass' move, sure. It is also completely wrong. The warning on a HC character's creation didn't go away, did it? |
