How about 4hour/1week race on let’s say "Player X" league - default:) kind of command from Diablo II.
I mean strength monsters will be like for party of let say 6, but if other will join in party they will not get any bonuses, they actually will lose. 1 player got all from hardness but party will get same strength mobs so reward will be split. Don't know if I explained this well;) Basically if you play solo it harder but more profitable, you can join the party to make it easier but you will get less, and another thing this will force players to make party for bosses, as it will be really hard to kill them along. |

" Agree with everything Kotao says, if you are going to make a another week long race, you need to make it solo. We need a long term solo event, to gain more data and give a better idea about solo play balance. Group play just makes everything so much more easier and is not a true reflection of individual ability or competency. Trading should never be allowed in solo events (short ones), I have never once traded in a race, and people who use trading in 2-4 hour solo races are gaining an advantage. In fact, I did not even realise you could trade in the short races, no idea why this was not disabled, I wonder how many players have benefited from this over the short period of time, hopefully none of the top players. " Maybe this could be nice for solo races in general. If it's constantly on Player 1, then playing in a party is definitely a disadvantage, and NO ONE would do it. Yet if you are afraid of the Brutus/Merveil fight, you can invite friends and just do the boss together, then immediately disband again. Maybe shorter races, that only last hours, shouldn't use this. But in a one week hardcore solo race, getting together to do some tougher bosses, but with an exp trade off could be a viable option. And of course I have to agree, no trading in solo, or even in the concept just proposed. |

" So you want to be able to group up in a solo race? haha, you have just defeated the whole object of it being a solo race. Not being able to get help killing a boss is something i want in a solo event, as it relies on individual play and competency. The game is already so much easier in parties in general, it is so easy to be carried and have dangerous situations mitigated. |

About the lethality of Turbo vs normal, for a melee build, and a stock one at that (marauder gs/hs), there is a rather significant difference.
Brutus and Vaal can be a nightmare, things like rhoas are entirely unavoidable, maps can get super dodgy, in general you just take a WHOLE lot more damage. Anybody who says otherwise played a class that doesn't have to get hit as much (totems, summons), partied with that sort of build for the same benefits or built complete tanks. Totems, summons, range and partying totally dominated turbo later on. At times it felt like the only thing keeping me alive was my decoy totem. Also, in a longer Turbo race, even if it's intended to be solo, I would certainly like to be able to trade. What if you don't pick up granite flasks or necessary gems? Am I supposed to run around farming some area ad infinitum hoping to get the drops I need? With trading I can at least counter the effects of RNG loot and skill drops and actually build the way I intend or need to. Taking that away would make it a crap shoot for me. |

Trading in a solo race will make it a team race. Everyone plays for himself. But if somebody find something good he can give it to one in his team. With Teamspeak this could be done without losing much time.
Could be played to have more variety in game modes. I would count it as a team mode. |

Personally I am a bit of a purest:
In the last 1 week hardcore turbo race by day 3 (working 9-5 also) i managed to get to lvl 46 being 26 on the leaderboard, were it not for the Warden desync in Cruel....I salivate at what i would have been able to achieve. I did not party and I did not trade as i felt obliged to test myself even further, only crafting and using the items that i found along the way, clearing every map as i went to otimise my xp/item gain. I Literally only farmed pyramid twice but beyond that progressed without farming. I did find one boss to be particularly overpowered especially for a melee class (Hulk being my only cless ;)) Warden was almost unmanagable, I had to swap to a bow to deal with him whereas Merevill, Oversoul etc were doable as a melee. Warden however was nightmarish and imo could use (only a little mind) a turndown as far as the attack speed is concerned. And yes.....I felt very bad for using a bow........Hulk did not like and probably wont forgive me......ever :/ Beyond that the experiance was perfect and I much more prefered and enjoyed the game type. Hearding zombies was alot less time consuming and the constant "danger" factored into a much more enjopyable experiance, needless to say that the game operated more at the speed that my mind and body are used to mechanics wise :) Maybe to make it even more hardcore GGG could completely make rares exclusive to crafting and lower the rarity and quantity to a really low value just for giggles :) GG GGG P.S I went armour/es/res items and full health tree marauder (aka Hulk) Existence is infinite, a weave of live and dead, beyond the understanding of the many mortal threads. Embrace death to honour the lost, no fear in life no matter the cost. With one of all we are and all of one we trust, throughout past, present and future...... be just. Disable Trade for solo.
Also look into making the shorter races length based on playtime rather then hours. It would obviate the need for having them at different start time to accommodate different time zones. IE: 3 hour play time race with a one day duration. Of course your ladder would have to know when a player reached the 3 hour limit and remember their progress to compare to the other players at the end of the day duration. Fight censorship
