lol....standard league is the dumpster into which all other leagues eventually fall. Whether it be dead hardcore characters or the end of Anarchy league, everything ends up in Standard.

You can either think of it as a showcase for your characters and gear or a graveyard for your dead (hardcore) characters.

I guess if you really wanted to, you could use it as a playground to try out whacky new builds with overpowered gears or something, but imho, the real game is based in leagues such as Anarchy and Onslaught - and whatever comes next.

Just think... every 4 months a completely fresh economy with new items, new rules and a new ladder (for those that care about such things). Standard league on the other hand will just continue to fill up with all of Piety's mis-experiments until it looks like the blockage in the Act III sewers.

I like how people pretend like new leagues don't also have crap economies in less than a month.

no need to pretend anything i just saw 2 wtb goldrims in onslaught when have you seen that the last time in standard ? you can sell everything in onslaught aslong it has life and resi someone somewhere needs it

btw i laughed hard ...piety miscreation lol

Legacy items will be a thing, guys, so just don't divine your items after any nerfs.

Standard and HC are essentially dumping grounds for failed items, or non-ladder in D2, and playgrounds where people can strive to attain the most powerful characters possible using combinations of legacy and non-legacy gear.

4 Month leagues are the true ladders, so that's where the changes to items actually matter.
4 months is plenty of time to make multiple endgame characters.

I don't get why people even play the default leagues. When Anarchy/Onslaught launched, the default leagues were dead to me. Everything I had there just sat and collected dust. And when the current Anarchy/Onslaught leagues end, and everything I own falls to the default leagues again, it too will just sit and collect dust. I will start fresh in the new leagues that launch and won't look back. To me, having access to 2-years worth of wealth and items makes the game boring. What's there to do when you already have a bunch of level 70+ characters and don't really have a need for anything?
Will the ladder be archieved?

A wholeeeeee 2 weeks of down time! I don't think I'll find the courage to play standard for that long.

Leagues are what keep me in the game 8)

I know. I'm already ready for the new leagues, and not only do I have to wait for them to end, I have to wait an additional 2 weeks before I can start playing again.

The four-month Anarchy and Onslaught leagues end on October 8 (US time). We have two new four month leagues lined up which start on Release Day, approximately two weeks later. Read the full news post for more information on what's happening as Anarchy and Onslaught end.

The exact time that Anarchy and Onslaught end is 1pm on October 9 (NZ time). All Anarchy characters will become Standard Characters and all living Onslaught characters will become Hardcore characters. Their stash tabs also transfer, but excess ones will become read-only. For a period of approximately two weeks, only Standard and Hardcore leagues will be available.

For a few minutes after the leagues end, Anarchy and Onslaught characters will be unavailable as they transfer to Standard and Hardcore.

The information of what Anarchy and Onslaught challenges you've completed is stored and will be forever displayed on the updated profile page that is coming with 1.0.0. T-shirts will be awarded to people who completed all 8 challenges. Please note you have to be in possession of the relevant Unique items at the end of the league to received that challenge. The challenge numbers on the forum will continue to display after your name until the next challenge leagues start.

Rogue Exiles will start to spawn in all leagues (including Race events) at around 60% of the rate that they appear in Anarchy. They have been rebalanced.

Two new four-month challenge leagues will start on Release Day. In a similar way to how we introduced Rogue Exiles in Anarchy, the two new leagues both introduce new content. I'm pretty excited about both of them, to be honest. The hardcore one's property is more interesting than the semi-turbo we used for Onslaught. These leagues have a new set of challenges that are similar to (but generally different than) the ones in Anarchy and Onslaught.

Our intention is that as four month leagues start and end, we enable or disable base item types and Unique items to keep the metagame fresh or to perform experiments. The following changes are confirmed:

All of the item base types introduced in Anarchy and Onslaught will now spawn in all leagues. They or other base types may later be disabled.
Base types from the core game will also continue to drop. The Onyx Amulet will have its implicit mod reduced to 10-16 to all attributes. Any Onyx Amulets found or rolled with Blessed Orbs before this change goes into effect will keep their higher values.
Anarchy and Onslaught-only Unique items will not drop any more. Some or all of them may return in the future.
Unique items that were prevented from spawning in the challenge leagues (for example, Kaom's Heart) will continue to spawn, but they (or other Uniques) may be rebalanced at Release.

We'll be announcing information about the two new leagues on the day that Anarchy and Onslaught end. As mentioned, this is a couple of weeks before they start.

Dear Chris

I think that this what is outlined here is a first step to a disaster.

Legacy items suck. They can be accounted for when balancing or ignored (there is no realistic third way) this results in:

a) non-legacy items being trash and entire game centered around few lucky RMT'ers that decided to play Path of Traders
b) legacy items being overpowered as fuck

your choice. legacy.items.suck

Removal of ons/ana uniques is THE STUPIDEST THING IVE EVER SEEN

These - by a damn frat chance - were coolest, most balanced and well though out items in this game. now you decided that few lucky RMT'ers (just check djsp!) will make a fortune denying players a pleasure of playing with these items.

Your reluctance when it comes to altering existing items can be only explained by you - as a company - being held hostages by few items that YOU YOURSELVES have put into the game without thinking:

Kaoms Heart
Shavs
Soul Taker
Auxium
Lioneyes

Leaving them be (that is nerfing new ones and leaving the clusterfuck balance) is a COWARDICE

You are afraid of few shaddy RMT'ers running away.

btw - nice that you are toying with onyx amulets - but guess what? these ARE NOT THE PROBLEM.

Game problems right now:

DESYNC
Life vs CI
Melee being and afterthought
Effectiveness of Sporkers: being good at exactly everything and IIR/IIQ being mandatory
Bullshit uniques

funny enough - you tackle not a single one of these (yet). because legacy items != fixing bullshit uniques

I really hope the new leagues will have Ironman element or that there are more than just 2 new leagues. Otherwise - as a soloplayer - I dont see any point in going to compete in new league again.

When it comes to new 4-month leagues, i think they are too long. We discuessed this in Etup's stream chat and we all agreed 4-month is 1-2 months too long. I would assume GGG has seen this in serious drop of amount of players who log for the present 4month's at the moment. You should do a daily news update wheres there an questionnaire about the like's and dislike's in leagues and then maybe implement some of those results.

Otherwise - I love it that GGG keeps us players informed so well. Chris has definetely taken alot of his time off from other projects to keep his daily news update alive. Thank you Chris for this.

Best,
Cudez

4-months being too long depends on whether or not you partake in trading. I play self-found. None of my Anarchy characters have any 5 or 6 link items. None of my characters have any of the top-end uniques, or rares for that matter. Doing Level 66+ content/maps playing self-found is difficult/challenging to impossible/frustrating. In this light, 4-months is about right and I'm looking forward to getting farther, faster in the new upcoming 4-month leagues... playing self-found again of course.
so many jealous people , legacy items add to the depth of the game and doesn't affect anyone except the people who actually have them .

if you don't have a legacy item then it won't affect you at all , so don't worry about it.

legacy items through anarchy/onslaught add an incentive to play these leagues and give the people who played these leagues some currency when they sell these off a few years down the line , none of these items are mandatory for playing the game .

Now can people please be happy with everything you get every 1-2 weeks from GGG instead of whining of all the things you can't get in 6 months from now , it all makes you look like jealous teenagers .
I'm worried about the ever expanding list of legacy items.. The way I see it is, if you're going to nerf something, then nerf it. Nerfing something means recognizing that a certain item is overpowered. By not nerfing all of those specific items you're only going to make it worse because not only does the item still exist, it will also become extremely rare and valuable, thus making RMT more attractive.

Imagine how unfair it would be for example if the Alpha's Howl fix only applied to newly found ones? You'd have a few elite players abusing auras while the rest of us scrubs have to use the nerfed item..
