Empower Support Gem, meet Brian at PAX Prime and Race Calendar importing
What it does is this:
Links a SPELL gem with an ATTACK gem and gives a % chance for the spell to execute on attack. Thus EMPOWERing it. Examples: Your Glacial Hammer could have a 5% chance to cast Freezing Pulse on hit. Your infernal blow can have a 5% chance to cast corpse explosion. Your sweep can have a 5% chance to cast firestorm. Your poison arrow can have a 5% chance to cast temporal chains. Etc. Link Spell to Attack. The attack might be limited in terms of single target or AOE, the attacke might be limited in terms of melee v. ranged. The reason the skill gem is red is for the same reason that the spell totem is red. In essence this attaches a spell totem to your weapon. % chance might be linked with critical hit chance. IE if you score a critical hit with a melee attack it will generate an empowered version of the attack by adding the linked spell. /thread Last edited by MBata#2543 on Aug 29, 2013, 1:31:28 PM

does anyone notice that the gem needs 226 million 854 thousand 909 experience to level up. WTF?!

I hope its something in the style of aghanim's scepter from Dota where its something crazy individual for every Active Gem and its not explicitly said what it does in the description.
So people have to find out what it does by testing and stuff. (btw im a complete dota Noob but i once used Aghanim's and it was pretty fun) <Edit> Could be the Ultimate niche build Support gem Some examples of what i mean Spark loses all other Projectiles but gets an AoE And Fireball is homing but can't ignite Frost Nova pulls mobs towards you Heavy Strike gets a Slow Detonate Dead loses Damage but you can Explode Mobs below 10%live Enduring Cry mobs have to attack you for 2 seconds but you get charges faster Idk probably not the right answer. Would be awesome though. Hard to imagine something for every skill but it is fun. Ign: Slimwaterman Last edited by Slimwaterman#0939 on Aug 29, 2013, 1:47:15 PM

Exp required to level the empower gem feels like it's in the proper range to level a gem from 20 to 21.

" I think just about everyone has. So the effect of the gem better be super awesome, right? Like:

" This sounds awesome and makes sense, I hope that this work like that, now the point is to figure out how other supporter gems will work for the spell, be the position?, i mean for example You have a 3 link helm, you put in the first place Glacial Hammer skill gem, in the second place you put Empower support gem, in the third place you put the Freezing pulse skill gem So how would it work? I would be able to choose only the Glacial Hammer skill and have the chance to cast Freezing pulse on hit, or maybe I can choose Freezing pulse and have a chance to hit a single target with Glacial hammer, well in this example this doesn't work very well, but you know what I mean, replace Glacial Hammer with Ice Nova, you cast Freezing pulse and have a chance to cast Ice Nova and viceversa. But the point is this, you have a 5L chest piece. First place you put a Glacial Hammer skill gem, then empower, then Freezing Pulse, then Melee Splash then GMP, so you will use Glacial Hammer with splash and a chance to cast Freezing Pulse with GMP? or you need to place support gem directly linked the skill that you want to support? for example, you will need to put, Melee Splash first then Glacial Hammer, then Empowe, then Freezing Pulse, then GMP, and the orden needs to be in that specific way to work in that specific manner, so you will need a 5L Chest with RRRBG? I seems to be a very dificult (An exciting) mechanic and I would love to see it implemented BUT, i dont think that this is the case, because it looks like a lot of dificult mechanics and effort for just one Support Gem in a "Small patch", because it can change everything (In a good way). Regards! Indestructible, determination that is incorruptible

2 ideas:
When slotted in weapon it empowers this specific weapon with something, like a linked curse or chance to proc a skill. Or Adds +5 max quality(over 20 that is) per level to linked gems. Max lvl 2 Last edited by ballsonfire#3687 on Aug 29, 2013, 2:55:49 PM

Obviously this gem should stop gcps from loosing their value. It's the countermeasure to the 20% quality gem recipe. Because either you raise the quality of this gem to 20% before leveling or you will never get this gem to lvl 20. Sadly I bed the only ones able to level that gem to 20 will be the botters. And of course this gem is a "don't play solo"-item. ;D

Hmm... shouldn't that gem read: "Supported gem..." instead of "This gem..." makes it sound like it's referring to itself.... ie. "This sword gains xp faster" ie. Empowers itself to gain XP faster...
Although, now that (as someone pointed out) I saw how much XP is required for 'this' Empower gem to reach level 2.... I'm really starting to wonder! :) |
