0.9.12 Information and Incomplete Patch Notes (Updated)

"
Rebalanced the properties on level 60+ items so that the requirements and damage/defense are higher.

this is retro active right?
This sockets thing is a step backward in my opinion.
Never had been the removal of options from games a good sign at all.

All games that didn't do will was mainly because of players asking for more options and the developers either denying them or even removing.

Please reconsider as this doesn't make any sense at all.

Regarding minions i can't comment until i have a high level nerco myself.

Chris I don't like the minion changes so far.

Teleporting doesn't solve broken pathfinding (also affects other monsters!!), monsters can block themselves even going into the same direction. I think this is the root of the problem.
Awesome job telling Chris the changes won't fix AI before the patch is even out. Purely awesome.

...

Nothing about map drop rates? Instead you've nerfed about the only thing that consistently leads to dropped maps, which is +area size and +pack size. I'm level 79 and have over 70 increased quantity (over 110 on single target attacks used on blues/rares/bosses) and I struggle to play in anything but level 60 maps. :(

Freedom!

Yep, freedom of choice in the UI is always the best way to please most players. I am really curious as to why this change was planned in the first place?

Is it really because the artists fear their work will be underappreciated? Because I need to have sockets turned on for fluent gameplay, nontheless I turn them off from time to time just to watch my nice and shiny stuff ;)

@People criticizing the skeleton change. You are kidding, right? I am playing a Shadow mostly and am in no way a summoner. Yet I maintain a supported skellie spell just in case and to be quite honest I could go through the entire game unharmed just by spamming skellies. Not a single support node on the tree picked, nothing. Those things are so strong it isn't even funny anymore. When I get into an area my normal build cannot handle I just keep spamming skellies till the area is cleaned out while I wait somewhere far away.

This nerf is much needed and from my perspective right now might not even be enough, but we will see about that.

Might be its a needed nerf. I just don't like it. Forces you to spam skellies too much.
So... from what ive understood R.I.P Necro Witch:/ oh well time to find another build, its rly sad bcoz this is the first game where i really felt powerful as a summoner hero with that little army around me, teleporting them with you is not enough to make up for such nerf... i see that some ppl say that there will be fewer but stronger minions where did you read that coz other then more hp to skeletons and faster spectres(O_O all two of them :O) i see only nerfs and if there wont be any rly good and big bonuses for them is skill tree this build will be a fail...

As for sockets i think its a bad idea i rather have easier information then see the same arts over and over again.
The nerf to skeletons is well deserved. They were absolutely overpowered as meat shields for the only cost of a single skill gem socketed.

But speaking about minion changes, did you do something about the (imo) biggest annoyance with minions yet, mainly that they're targetable and thus make it an absolute pain in the ass to target an enemy when it's swarmed by minions?

----------------

As for the sockets... well, though for your artists, but I don't really care for the item graphics in the inventory. I want to see what I've socketed and where at a glance without having to continuesly press alt all the time while looking at my stuff.

Can we please get this as an option back?
As much i loath Diablo 3 in it's current state GGG should learn a thing or two from blizzrd about how many options there is when it comes to how comfortable your UI must feel and to even make players customize to their needs.

Just loot at how will the Hud and UI can be full of options which isn't something bad.

It's a little sad that some people play the game with Z always toggled on. They never get to see the fine artwork on the items because it's being totally covered by the sockets overlay. It's just like the Detective Vision problem from the Batman: Arkham series games.
I find the Detective Vision to be kind of a ridiculous hyperbole (since that affects an entire game instead of just item artwork).

I see the point of having this feature, which is to be able to switch between looking at an item and the sockets quickly, but I think having the Alt switching forced by default will create a problem for people learning the game.

Absolutely. From what the changes appear, you now have to actually build your character to use Skeletons as well as you can currently instead of it turning any int based character into a viable summoner just from owning the gem.
About 2 days ago I was playing PoE and I thought "Man, I really wish it didn't always display all the sockets when I have it toggled to always show item names on the ground"

So many awesome things coming in the patch, but it's really cool to see this socket display change too.

As for people freaking out about the socket display change... you do know that it only affects you if you were someone who had the game toggled to always display item names on the ground, right? I see someone mentioned it would be bad for new players but the default is NOT to always display item names on the ground, so most new players wont even know the difference.

What the heck are you talking about?? Chris said that minions are now "devastating" and that he watched a player kill merciless Vaal Oversoul very quickly without taking a single hit by using minions.

Maybe you should wait till the patch actually comes out and then do some beta testing of it before you decide that minions are useless?
