Death Penalty Changes in 0.11.3

I would also say that, if you really want to lower the penalties, they should not go below 5% and 10%.
Very appreciative of the lowered XP loss proposed. I think 3 and 8 is much better than it was!

As someone who has characters in Onslaught, Standard, Hardcore and Anarchy, for various reasons, I enjoy all the leagues, in different ways. I think this is a better approach for Standard than the 15%. Thanks for daring the wrath of the more masochistic players. If they want a firm hand applied to their backsides for the slightest mistake, Onslaught & HC are only a Create away, although I'd assume they're already enrolled (in which case, their displeasure isn't terribly helpful.)

Also, I don't party with anyone much but my husband (who gives me whatever sparkly I want :) but I like the six socket change as well. Makes perfect sense. Whoever would resent that was just trying to swipe'em before someone else got to them. Now they can just learn the kindergartener mantra:

You get what you get and you don't have a fit.

Thanks for the progressive thinking in PoE!

If you playing as a ranger, you wont get any 6S because a melee will take it. With this patch, ranger get a chance to take a 6S in party. Thanks you ggg

Lol you never played a Cyclone or any movement skill havent you ?
ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it
Im just gonna say that im not a fan of either change. 6 sockets were one of the only things not allocated you had to fight for, now there is nothing (dont tell me chromatics)
Thumbs up for the GGG.
Hope to see a substantial increase of GlassCannons on softcore. All hail build diversity.

I like that GGG at least try to fix the death penalty to something that will still be penalty, but wont discourage people from doing challanging stuff, specialy on high level.

In my opinion death penalty should work in even different way than it is now. Something like...
If you die, the first death have completly no penalty, but you get debuff that last 1-2 hours. Each debuff make the next death reduce the exp by 2% (on all difficulties), and it will stack up to 5 times, so up to 10% penalty.
Its simple concept, everybody die time to time, so punishing something as natural is pointless. Though abusing strategy of constant dieing to win should be blocked, and it will block it by such system. It should also encourage players to try harder content where they can possiblity die few times (because ITS HARD, if you dont have chance to die its not anymore hard content people), like 2 or 3, will still be acceptable. 2 deaths will be 2% penalty, where 3 will be 6%. Anything above that will escalate quickly giving massive penalties for people who would want to abuse it.

To give further example of how it would look in totall (2 hours gameplay time/totall penalty):
-1 death - 0%
-2 deaths - 2%
-3 deaths - 6%
-4 deaths - 12%
-5 deaths - 20%
-6 deaths - 30%
-7 deaths - 40%
...
-20 deaths - 170%

Meh, now ALL the fun from looting is gone :( 6 sockets were the last item we actually had to fight over, now we have nothing! (yes i know you can put on short or ffa but most people don't wanna play with that since we have options now)

Mmaybe it's because most people think it's NOT fun to "fight" over loot. My time is precious, it's the most important thing I have. I don't feel like having a few hours messed up because people decided to converge on an item and stopped attacking dangerous monsters. "Item tension" is the worst idea I have ever heard of in a GAME based on items. But, that's why we have options!

As for the EXP change, I think people should see it first, THEN give feedback, GGG isn't stupid. They are simply trying something out, he even said it WILL change eventually.

I don't think death has to be THAT meaningful on SC, 15% was huge at higher levels. Hours and hours of work. Losing just 2 hours of work is PLENTY of a penalty for most people.

I applaud the responsiveness to the great amount of feedback that I have seen in regards to the exp penalties. Are 3 and 8% the right numbers... dunno but they did say it could change.. so let's wait and see. For those who think that the penalties should be extreme (because I think they were pretty extreme before in merc).. there's a great option for you ... it's called hardcore... you die.... you lose. Standard and some of the other leagues need to be tailored to suit a greater diversity of players and I think GGG is on the right track in reducing the exp penalties.
We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.
Funny to see all the people complaining about how people should play the game lol

being a casual hardcore, i'm happy with the nerf to xp loss , the problem isnt the actual xp loss but the time it takes to get it back as time for me is more precious than money.

Overall its not because the death penalty is lower that i won't take it less seriously when playing, even in softcore i always try to avoid death as much as possible

anyway wether the death penalty is 15% or 8% it does not change the fact that when you have zero xp for you level you can suicide bomb yourself without any drawback or xp loss either...

and dying in a map mean one less portal or game over if you are in a group which is more than enough.
I think this is awesome. Im pushing for higher maps, and they are really punishing. I have great defensives in the way that I can perma freeze enemies, but im not super tanky, even though I've taken all life nodes around me and started to take all evasion as well. I sometimes desync and die, and it cost me insane amount of playtime, so I really love this change. Was actually thinking about making a thread about this. It was REALLY discouraging, since I already have an issue with my graphics card, sometimes freezing my machine for up to 30 seconds, wich often causes me death as well, so it's hard for me to progres, and sadly imposible for me to play hardcore effeciently. :(

Great job GGG, cant wait for these changes, only gonna do low maps until this, because higher ones kills me too often to be worthwhile doing atm.
