The way to effectively dispose of them without losing minions is to bum rush them. I lightning warp right on top of them and my army will surround and kill them. You can also use them against each other. Raise one with increased duration and you can position yourself to cover your army as you progress.


skeletons work great against them. summoning skellies in the bubble and let zombies clean up

the only problems I have with them are if they spawn with some hard mobs that get in the bubble. then yeah, its not fun. especially if there's a allies cannot die mob or totem nearby

I had a room with 2 invulnerability totems with a large pack of evangelist, not a fun experience for summoners. I always pack conversion traps mow.

dominating blow is extremely fun to use on totems/rare mobs, all of their auras appear to be of the "about 50% more" variety. Their haste ability is a little bit (ok a large bit) ridiculous, as is playing totem maps and getting the invulnerable one in the boss room :D

mob discipline aura gave me 50% more ES (+2k)
mob life regen gave me 100% more regen (or ~4%)
mob haste increased my movement from 123% to 198%
'substantially increased melee dmg' gave me about 25-33% more dmg on dominating blow

When you can keep them for about a minute, and you run into rares every 10-20 seconds on maps it really starts to get crazy. any time I see something i'd normally spectrefy, I dominate it instead.

only downside is they replaced the gem slots I used for skele totem, and it needs multistrike to have a reasonable chance of a minion not killing the thing between swings (using epheremal edge).

Makes me want to get my hands on the Headhunter belt, since actually attacking is to much of a drag for my summoner.

head hunter's is pretty interesting. But if your character is the one receiving the mods that wouldn't really help as much (unless the mods were defensive). If the mods went to the minion that killed the rare now that would be interesting.

For me its all about buffing the minions, zombies are nuts with some of these monster auras. I do wonder with that belt, if the player would continue to get the buff after the domination wears off and it dies.

I know our % minion dmg nodes do not effect BM's damage, but does quality fire pen gem effect BM's damage?
Try running determination lol. It makes your zombies mroe tanky... especially against evangelists (they are phy dmg)
dom blow is really fun to play around with, but there are few setbacks for summoner:

1. its a melee ability. as as summoner you usually deal no significant melee damage even if you stack strength nodes. so it requires a culling strike for you actually to get the kill before your minions slaughter the mob.

2. it also pretty much requires melee splash and increased duration, if you want to actually use it with any kind of point.
so thats a 4L already, not to mention, you want a 1.6+ attack speed weapon, ideally 1.8+ since usually summoners take zero nodes for attack speed.

3. you need accuracy or RT. since summoners have no accuracy, you have to go for RT to make it half effective. for my build, RT is not a problem, but it might be for many, including the build in this topic

4. biggest problem of them all- it requires you to run in a pack of mobs to cull. this makes it unplayable as a summoner in high level maps. the last thing you want to do with a summoner without significant leech+regen+armor is running into a pack of fire golems with crit and +% dmg as lightning on a 76/77 map

so yeah, its a cool way to bring variety in your playstyle, but I found it completely unusable in high level maps that have any kind of tough mods, where your play is much more defensive (at least solo)

Here is what I'm wondering..... will changing my spec to this yield me more armour if I drop determination in favor of grace?



I'd gain a little HP due to being able to drop agi nodes so thats a plus, I'm unsure if armour is a gain or loss, and my minions would lose survivability by losing determination. Thoughts?
