Desecrate creates 3 dead bodies with monster level (area_level) + 2 (IIRC, could as well be only area_level), capped to a maximum by the level of the gem, from a list of monsters that depends on the area. You can later raise those corpses as zombies (corpse level is irrelevant) or spectres (corpse level is *everything*).


ooh, so it basically lets you create unlimited corpses to use for summoning spells? that's pretty cool then. Are the corpses limited to ones that regularly spawn in that zone?

can't count the number of times I've gotten into trouble when spectres went down and couldn't leave map to get more.

Remote mine is "more damage" Melee Phys is "increased damage" Most of the time with enough passives and equipment "more damage" scales better because its multiplicative.


Not sure what your smoking my friend but Melee Physical Damage is also more damage and has 1% more than remote mine and increased melee physical as a quality to boot xD.

They will spawn mobs found in the zone/map you are in.

So with desecrate I create lvl 66 flame sentinels in the eternal lab and they stay with me until they die. Is there any difference between these and regular spectres? How does the DPS compare to lvl 62? My issue is clearing large mobs. My flame sentinels can take down lv 76 bosses actually pretty easily but they cant clear a large lvl 70 mob which really hurts clear speed. Im thinking of faster projectiles so their fireballs go farther.
This build is viable for invasion league ?

Yes, and yes, kinda -- the list of monster depends on the tileset I think. Just try, AFAIK this is not documented.

No, Desecrate create corpses, from which you raise "regular spectres". I have no idea about the DPS increase; GGG does not provide this level of detail for summons. If the area_level + 2 number is confirmed, then using Desecrate always yields better corpses than the ones you can kill yourself, in addition to being much faster. So it's worth your time to level one of these.

Had not tried invasion yet but looking at streams and videos the boss mobs do a ton of damage (sometimes aoe damage) and minions do not do well in those situations lol.

It's not area + 2, the corpses are capped at the area level. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/784330/page/5#p7063348.
Still summoning a level 66 flame sentinel is still better than the 62 ones from solaris. It has made my snapshotting trip way faster and easier.

Sadly the corpses created by Desecrate have a dual level cap. The level is capped by the level of the Desecrate gem and the zone level.

A level 1 Desecrate can only spawn level 22 corpses.
A level 20 Desecrate can spawn level 100 corpses.

In a level 1 area both, the level 1 and level 20 gems will create level 1 corpses. Zone level is the cap.
In a level 70 area the level 1 gem will create level 22 corpses. Gem level is the cap.
In the same area the level 20 gem will create level 70 corpses. Zone level is the cap.
