Usually GGG tells us exactly what will change next patch. There is no mention of anything changing . Before the aura changes they told us specifically that they were going to alter that mechanic. I always thought minion mechanics are what they are because of how skills are hard coded into the game. Am sure if it was feasible to change they would have done it already a long time ago.

OH WE CAN'T LEVEL SUMMONER FROM LVL 1 HAVE TO USE A DIFF BUILD

use your brains people

they will most likely make the skills for Summoning (NOT COD it is a trigger gem NOT A SUMMONING skill)

More appealing to lower level char making them more viable for normal and cruel difficulties

i started summoning at lvl 6 it was fucking hard but i am 90 now

strange...

so many people talk about how hard it is to level summoners and i didn't have any problems at all.

not until merciless act 3 of course and only because i was so low on life and chaos burns through ES.

just made sure and supported my arc with skill nodes and + spell damage and then spec'ed out of them later on.

arc + zombies + skellies + MI were more than strong enough to level, and quickly. Firestorm works very well too.

I suspect that people don't develop a strong attack skill when they start the summoner. I had to regret out of at least 6 nodes which supported my attacks once the summons were really strong.

This does not apply to dominus of course, but _none_ of my characters has _ever_ been able to take on dominus (my summoner can now !!)

Dominus is why it's very nice to have friends with high level chars, or just put "need help" in the party title ;-)

That's the whole point. You don't level as a pure summoner, right now leveling is easy even without passive investment - flameblast or spectral throw all the way to merciless act 3. But leveling as a summoner is too hard and takes too much time, not to mention nerves of steel.

First of all, I would like to thank Matt and everyone else who posts in this thread. This thread has made my PoE experience amazingly enjoyable.

I am currently at level 84 and I am about to start gearing up properly. As I understand it, we are looking for armor pieces with +life, +str, and +resists. My question though has to do with the type of armor. I believe this guide and the general consensus of all the posters suggests we go with Armor/ES gear. Is this just because it can roll +str in order to get more life? It seems like our passives would make Evasion/ES gear give significantly more armor than Armor/ES. Is this not correct? Does the +STR life bonus outweigh the damage reduction that the additional armor from IR and +evasion% passives would give if I went with Evasion/ES gear?

20/20 minion damage = +92% increased minion damage (applies to BM's dot from what I've read)
20 increased burning damage = 59% increased burning damage (also applies to BM's dot)

so what am i missing?

Nothing, minion damage is better, unless you don't have the right socket color, for instance it's not that easy to get blue sockets on chober, I myself use burn damage because of that.

Can someone explain how exactly works the CoD spectre summoning? I have never used the remote mine spell, so i tryed recently to use the gems like a user was saying, to get everything up except Cod, then get CoD and use the mines. But how do you use the spell "remote mine"? Because when i tryed it i couldnt cast the spell. Are you supposed to attach a trap spell to it and use it first, then blow it up and it will cast the associated spell (in this case summon spectre?

You have answered your own question with the last part of your text. For exampled 4l head piece:
Remote mine
Raise Spectre
Minion Life
Increase Area

Put raise spectre on you skill bar 1 (can be any except lmb).
Cast the skill.
This will put a remote mine on the ground on or near the corpse of a mob.
Detonate the mine using the 'd' key.
Voila, you have your spectre.


However, reading the posts here I think minion dmg give better dps than remote mine.
