While I do appreciate "maxing" the DPS of BM with the new degen changes, I don't feel like damage has ever been an issue for me. Granted I've only done maps up to 75 and I only solo them, so in group situations maybe the bigger damage is more important, but to me, it's more of an issue of keeping key spectres/zombies alive for a whole sit down rather than having them kill something in 2 seconds instead of 3.
The only boss so far I haven't been able to kill so far has been the jungle valley spider who spawned with two rares, one of which had the "allies cannot die" affix, and I ended up with 50 little unkillable spiders and couldn't get my minions on the named.
Again I appreciate the theorycrafting on this and all, but isn't anyone concerned that while this is technically a buff for summoners, if BMs start being able to kill end map bosses in ~3-4 seconds some core component of them is going to be nerfed? Or perhaps some core component of snapshotting?
Just my two cents, I am eager to see what everyone's results are, after the patch.
Of course it will. Why do you think they delayed the patch?) But seriously, its not that we can stop the degen changes right, why not theoriocraft on what we know? If BMs do get nerfed, we can always use Degen bear + BM, since 1. auras will stack 2. bear's aura can finally be scaled too.

Based on today's comment by Chris it seems obvious that some mobs damage will be nerfed

I feel the same way as you do.
Minions do have alot of health and are quite tanky, the problem is sustaining them through high damage aoe situations which leads to alot of fights being a dps race. One problem with this is that most bossfights require you to go through a door, which makes your BMS turn off their unrighteous fire.
I feel that keeping minions alive always comes down to them killing all enemies before they die themselves, which is a problem due to difficulty sustaining them.
This makes RNG such a big part of how you do versus many bosses such as the torture chamber one(Tbh i have never killed this one without having to resummon), the jungley valley boss and even the villa one.
I have not yet tried the 74+ maps as i have been saving them to do with my friends so i'm guessing there are more "problem bosses" left.
I don't like that it looks like this patch will make us even more dependant on when the BMs activate their aura during bossfights.
Summoner damage is more then ok atm, it's actually pretty insane.
I would be so happy if they could boost minion survivability instead(especially sustainability).
Maybe they could do something like increasing the effect vitality has on minions.
I have to admit that i have not tried warlords curse yet, has anyone tried this and felt that it solves the sustainability problem on higher level maps/bosses?
I'm on domination so i don't have sick gear. I do however own a good rolled montreguls grasp and have 20% quality lvl 20 zombie gem in the same setup as matt with 20% quality support gems. I also snapshot minions with sidhebreathe and chober chaber and run vitality, clarity, purity and grace(need 1 more item for enough mana to run discipline and still have some left for Mind over matter).
I mention this because i dont see many more options for increasing minion survivability.

BM's are more about clearing out white/magic mobs fast than killing bosses, they clear away all the clutter so your zombies/evangelists can target the rare/boss mob. I'm just happy they will work with IIQ gem after update.

about monsters being nerfed, this makes a lot of sense since magic/rare/boss monsters have built-in "increased damage" property which is automatically going to start applying to DoT's, as well as their auras which can substantially increase damage again.
I dont think BM's are the intended target here as their burn dot isnt that much. This is more for the mobs that have already been nerfed previously due to being OP, and are about to get a huge buff. Incinerators, alchemists, lava golems, any archer that uses the ranged attack DoT's etc.

Is it just me (and by that I mean "luck") or are our friendly BM's casting their unrighteous fire much, much faster than usual? I hope it is the latter, cause it is nice :)
