Australian Test Gateway Feedback (Updated)

a Vodafone staff member has confirmed the plan change has nothing to do with it "100% coincidence as it's not related, Looking at your trace route it's outside of the Vodafone NZ network so it's something we can't change"

Looks like i'm back to dealing with 200 ping :/.
Sounds like its a routing issue. EG. one ISP I use in AU gets better ping to US server and the other gets better ping to Singapore. The only thing you can really do is let GGG know there is a routing issue (Post a trace route as per the first post). Perhaps they will contact Vodafone if it is a routing issue, however the only people that can fix something like this are Vodafone unfortunately.
I've sent an email to Vodafone support, just waiting for a reply. if that fails ill just ring them up and annoy them till they fix it :D. after playing for 2 weeks with 50ms latency ill be damned if i'm going to settle with 200ms ping.
POE AU/NZ FB group is up

Had a couple of weird disconnects this morning. ONe caused a rollback in which I lost the map I was running + 2 more 69 - 70 maps.

hey man, if you get a chance to follow up with VF perhaps bring this thread to their attention

http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Landline-and-broadband/Poor-routing-Ping/td-p/85654

this guys seems to have the exact same issue, and his trace shows it hitting the same problem as us, even being directed through the same servers though the US to get to Sydney.

all they need to do is compare the trace/route between

nsw.gov.au (which should go from unknown.telstraglobal.net -> sydney node)

and

au.login.pathofexile.com (which should go from unknown.telstraglobal.net -> hong kong or wherever)

if VF cannot bring this up with their peer networks (telstraglobal) then who can?

and like you I cannot go back to ~200ms.
Hi guys,

Just an update on the Vodafone issue - our AU server host are aware of this issue and are currently trying to get it resolved from their end. We expect to have the issue resolved within the next 48 hours.

I'm also trying to gather information from people who are unable to play in race leagues on the AU gateway as we have been unable to reproduce the issue ourselves. If you are having these problems can you post which ISP you're with, whether it happens all the time or only at the start of a race), whether you can get around the problem by creating a new character, and any other details that seem relevant.

Thanks.

ISP = Telstra Cable

Happens at the start of each race, once I enter Lionseye Watch. If I logout and switch to the SING server though I can carry on as per normal.
Chris Wilson: "Today was the proudest day of my life."
It seemed pretty widespread to me. During the start of one of the hour races (I forget which, it was a week or two ago) there was a mob of people just inside the entrance to Lioneye's Watch. Too many to count as they were all stacked (at least 30?) but there was literally no one running any further into town. Whenever I tried to move, I'd appear to move locally for maybe a second or two then rubberband back to the entrance. No one else showed signs of movement though so obviously it's only responding on the client side and not on the server.

After logging out then logging in again (on the AU server still) I was in the centre of town but still unable to move or interact at all (same thing with the rubberbanding).

Upon creating a new character for the same race league on the AU server, he would be on the shore as expected but the "this race hasn't started yet" message was showing, although it clearly already had.

I stopped persevering at this point and switched to the US gateway.

I'm in NZ on Telecom FWIW, although it seemed far too widespead a bug for it to be ISP specific.

EDIT: Everything in Twilight Strand up until entering Lioneye's was fine the first time through.

Thanks for the extra details, I think we've found the problem now and fixed it. Please let us know if you continue to have any problems with race leagues on the AU gateway.
