Why are the patch notes so late?

Patch notes will be available Thursday in NZ, which is tomorrow for us.
This doesn’t give the streamers much time to post all their bait builds on Youtube.

It is funny watching them trip over themselves to be first to market on "anything" or first to "react to" and then comment on another streamers work.

Where is Chris Wilson??? omg

They said he is gone. Long time ago actually.
For all those saying "This is normal, just be patient!", you either have foggy memories, or have no experience with how leagues normally go down. For literal years, the content reveal stream ended with patch notes going up. Available within minutes of them finishing up the stream. It's been 5 days now, and patch notes are still not available, which is why people who have played PoE for years are confused. It's a huge discrepancy from their usual timeframe.

While having a chance to put together a build beforehand may not be a big deal for some people, there's another huge reason to look at the patch beforehand; Deciding whether or not GGG has done enough to even warrant playing the patch at all.

The content reveal (for good reason, since it's all aboout marketing) focused on the new content, but the most broken/frustrating aspects of PoE2 have nothing to do with content for a lot of people, they have everything to do with balance. Will Life and Armour still be completely useless? Will Blood Mage's first ascendancy notable still be a punishment with 0 power that you have to skip until second trial? Is Acolyte of Chayula still a scatterbrained mess with no power? Will Archmage and MF still be so oppressively powerful in trade leagues that the most efficient way to League Start is to make a Stormweaver to EZFARMLOL and only then make whatever creative/fun build you actually want to play?

These questions might not matter to you, but for a lot of people they will determine whether GGG has addressed their problems with the game. If they haven't, plenty of us are going to give this patch a pass, and get on with our lives. If they have, we'll want to clear our schedules and plan on breaking out the snacks and coffee for a marathon weekend.

Waiting until the last possible second to show whether or not this league is even worth playing is what is annoying me more than not knowing what I'll play.
Because they are still making changes and don't know what direction to go with some stuff, according to the recent Q&A they did.

Yeah If I had any confidence in the balancing team of ggg I would not need to read patch notes. Wouldnt It be cool if the game was balanced? you could actually play almost any build!!!! what a dream.

People got pissed that their build was bricked and they couldn’t respec without farming gold on a broken character. If they just made respecs free or insanely cheap for EA then it would be acceptable to make changes on the fly.

I do not care if they made it cheap and/or free to respec, everyone woulda still been pissed and bitched the exact same.
typically in the past you would get the patch notes no more than a few days before they release, And that is because the game is under heavy iteration, you seen some of that in the Q&A with a change to a system they had ready to go, and some other things that are intended but may not be ready.

I would think that with PoE1 you have been lucky to get them a few weeks in advance, but it is probably because they were heavily focused on PoE2, so for PoE1 they got their league stuff and any changes done with weeks to spare then were shifted over to PoE2...GGG put the patch notes up but there wasn't anything else getting added like there was in the past
Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

He who controls the pants controls the galaxy. - Rick & Morty S3E1
there are dozens of builds that don't rely on blatantly overpowered shit like howa and archmage. most of those builds will remain untouched
