Warning for Ultra widescreen Mod after I disabled it
" Holy... what has all your "data" to do with "32:9" (you know, the topic of this thread) or with "GGG has to listen to the new demographic"? " Nope. It's actually funny that you made this connection when something else was the point; it's like a running gag now. I did not say "doing bad thing x is ok because everybody does it"; the point was - YOU connect every possible random stuff to GGG (PoE2) to support your claims. Btw, why are you back to addiction stuff!? Before you tried to "back up" your "Steam achievement"... stuff. " Already exists. Play SSF and stop inting. " WHAT is unfair? You keep saying "change the game", but I guess you are back to MTX again for whatever reason IN THIS THREAD. |

" You and I both know that we aren't just talking about 32:9. I have consistently stated. "Gameplay, Fun and enjoyment FIRST." This is also what the new demographic of players said as well. PoE has some unhealthy practices in it. Aimed at hooking players, aka the 5%. "Target demographic" That you stated. I provided these sources to back up my claims that it's unhealthy. " Thank you for the clarification. My mistake. " Yes. That's how it works. I make a claim. PoE is aiming at hooking, and addicting players. And then I back it up. With Data. Like I linked in my post. " The decision to ban 32:9 monitors would be a profit first decision. Aimed at keeping the "Target demographic" of the game happy. Whales/Addicts. The economy/competitive element is part of the addiction tie for many. One reason they get hooked. Most other players don't care. -- But now have a worse experience, because 5% of the playerbase is being catered to, to make sure they stay happy, and keep spending. " Yup. With data! " SSF is a mode for people to prove themselves. Again. Players stated this wasn't what they wanted. More casual oriented gamemode. -- Chill, Fun experience ARPG gameplay loop. Enemies + loot + cool abilities. Less emphasis on crafting/economy. LEss emphasis on punishment, and time gating mechanics that keep you playing. Example. Xp loss. Die, lose 5 hours. Addicted player now has to play 5 more hours. 5 more hours in game = more likely to spend money, more likely to stay long-term. " My claim - GGG has designed game in a way to maximize profits, player retention of addicts/whales. Profit first mentality leads to things like GGG trying to ban 32:9 Monitors. Keep the whales/addicts happy. My morality claim - This is bad. It's using players for profit in a unhealthy way. Examples - Stash tabs, MTX store obfuscation, Repetitive End-game, Poor loot forcing use of economy. Premium currencies. Price disparity between currency and MTX purchase incentivizing more purchase. Monetization method of game. Orbs are gambling mechanic. Seasonal game aims at keeping addicts coming back. It's all connected! My source is the studies I linked you. Wow, reading all the comments after my last post, such arguments. For and against 32:9. In my own opinion. This is the most wacked out reason to actually ban someone over in a video game. There were many other valid reasons which were given in this very part of the forum which give a player an advantage over another. And those reasons are not addressed. (No I don't care to state which are those advantages for the naysayers, go back and read) Some people here I see as those who just want to argue as though they enjoy it.
As a company. It wants to make money. Tries to do right, but overall, it takes that 1 thing to keep it alive. If it wants to grow, it's going to take more of that 1 thing. Take that 1 thing away, it won't do very well. There's a game I like, Division 2. By Ubisoft. No matter how much I like this game, the company has made very bad decisions in other areas of their games. Resulting in a very dangerous position to be in for the company. Do not think this cannot happen with GGG. Another would be Blizzard. The company used to be one of the greatest. Not that it isn't great still. But it's obvious that the company has made poor decisions. It is suffering in a way that's hard to dig out of. Another to mention of as a big company, would be Bethesda. What happened? Most of us may probably know without me stating it here. To the naysayers of 32:9. We all get it that you don't want a form of cheating in your game. I wouldn't either. Thing is, sometimes you just cannot be so harsh. Those of us here who have 32:9, alot of us simply quit the game. This takes away support for the game you also love and keep playing. This takes away $ in the future to GGG to add expansions or games with them in the future. I'm sure I'm not the only person who will say that has a 32:9 monitor that I will not pay for any of their games simply because of what they did here in this one. Don't think for 1 bit that a company cannot come crashing down and you lose what you once enjoyed. Here in this moment, the naysayers are fighting against $ in the pockets of GGG who made the game they play. To me, that's wacked out. That's one of the stupidest things one can do to harm a game. Your game, needs players. More support = possibly better things in the game to come. What happens as that support slowly goes away as we're all witnessing and showing/telling about? Those answers already show within the companies I've already mentioned. Whether you like 32:9 in the game or not. Actuality states that having it, increases the players in the game. Which increases $ flow to GGG. Which increases hopefully the quality of the said game and more to come. That in my opinion, is too high of a risk sake for this "cheating" to just ignore. If you don't like 32:9, I'm not against you. It's not harming me one bit. You can have your game that doesn't support it and I'll be on my way to other things. However, as I'm trying to state above^ it'd be better in some kind of way no matter what, to have the game somehow support it to make those who own 32:9 also happy. To make the game have a MUCH stronger foundation and support into that which we care about. It'll make GGG that much stronger than other gaming companies in games. I "want" to play this game. Look at us who have 32:9 here! And I know there's more. And just to state this, I made it to "maps" and then some! However, I quit right on the day I found out this issue and have not returned. That decision to take away 32:9, destroyed this so called "hooked" I'm supposed to have with the game. |

" Gameplay, Fun, Enjoyment First! Profits/players will come if people are happy. GGG is overstepping trying to ban this to keep profits flowing from their target demographic in a unhealthy manner. Ban 32:9 monitors to keep them happy. Reduces quality of the game for everyone else. Never before seen a game company try to ban the use of a specific resolution or aspect ratio that wasn't a direct PvP competitive game. And even then, it's questionable. Absolutely unreal from a game company. |

" I knew the conversation was about 32:9 and other changes in the game, but that you do this "bad practices" stuff again... nope. And there, besides the MTX shop, you just say stuff. " So... are you talking about "in-game" stuff or the shop again? Shifting this thread from this to that to something else over and over is highly annoying. " Ok. So far, I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you meant the MTX shop when talking about your "addiction" stuff, but this tells me you are full blast into your tinfoil crusade against GGG. " Subjective statement - you use "most other players don't care" without being able to prove what most players care about. " Then play a more casual-oriented game, period. GGG cannot cater to all the needs of every gamer. That's why GAMERS choose the GAME they want to play. " Nonsensical. You know why? Because I can make the reverse of your argument and get the same result. "Remove exp loss on death, so ppl get to max level and start a new character again, thus spend more hours - spend more money yadda yadda bla" " Nonsense again. IF GGG would design the game only to "gEt ThE wHaLeS" with "profit first" - they would entirely change the game to cater wayyy more casuals and get their money with Pay2Win stuff or other methods because casuals are ALWAYS the bigger demographic compared to non-casuals. " You sound like someone who read a psychology book and now thinks he is a psychologist who can spot every single narcissist like a medium... I bet you even think GGG only created crafting currencies so they can sell stash tabs to get da moneyyy. Last edited by JakkerONAIR#4902 on Mar 28, 2025, 12:24:44 AM

" I am engaging in good faith. Please show me the same respect. This isn't just 'stuff'. It's all connected. " Again. It's all connected. This is where critical thinking and abstraction are necessary to connect the dots. I have provided you ample evidence to back up my claims. Remember. I am arguing GGG needs to focus on a gameplay/fun/enjoyment first stance. And I am arguing that many of these decisions. Like 32:9. Xp Loss on death. Focus on Economy. Bad loot, microtransactions etc etc. Are largely PROFIT first. And that it is harming the players and/or lessening the quality of the game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I want more people to enjoy the PoE world! This is why I am arguing for it. I see players wants. - Less, or removed XP loss on death - and I offer a solution - Give these players their own gamemode. " Jakker. This is where abstraction and critical thinking come into play. Banning 32:9 is going to upset a lot of players with these monitors. It is being done to maintain integrity in this games 'competitive aspects' Like the economy and races. And I have provided data that has shown. Not that many people actually engage with these aspects. This is punishing the 99%, because 1% abused the widescreen hack. " And this is why I linked you the steam stats. And talked to you about how the majority of the playerbase plays this game. As well as player retention. Campaign -> Quit. With most people quitting before they engage with the economy substantially! " PoE can be both! ARPG's are awesome in this aspect. " Of course not. I am merely asking that they focus on the needs of the 180k players that quit a month or so after a League hits. Untapped potential. More players! " And GAMERS are telling you. If the game didn't have stuff like XP loss on death. Or a forced economy/trading I'd play it. I'm telling you that myself. I would play the absolute fucking shit out of PoE. The forums were full of people telling you. Hey. Can you give us a casual gamemode? Thousands of them. " Again, I provided Data to back this up in my other post. The studies. It's not nonsensical. It is infact, quite logical. It's one of the ways that video games try to hook you. Out of many others. " Yup. You're right. Except it's the intention that matters here. These players are now playing for fun, enjoyment. This is what I mean by, Happy players, profit! No need to be manipulative. YBacked by my sources, the studies I linked. |

I also came from a family that was --VERY-- Emotionally unintelligent, and it caused a lot of harm to the family. I also dated 2 people who nearly broke my spirit. True narcissists. I am --VERY-- familiar with abuse cycles, manipulation, the psychology behind things. I am incredibly familiar with harmful gaming practices that aim to take advantage of people, because I was taken advantage of by them. I can also spot a narcissistic person in an instant now. Super power, a gift that I gained after the abuse. So I am trying to help you understand this dynamic at play within this game. GGG is guilty of some of this stuff. Not the worst example. But they are still profiting off vulnerable people. I don't think the crafting currencies, that the original intention was malice. But I do believe over the years the intent shifted! They are very similar to gambling mechanics. It's like playing a slot machine for some. I think they realized this as some point, and decided to capitalize on it :) Last edited by Akedomo#3573 on Mar 28, 2025, 12:54:40 AM

" Again. Nothing so far has proved your point that the 32:9, exp loss, economy, loot, etc., is made because of "profit first". Hell, your logic even contradicts itself. Let's look at things step by step. 32:9 You think that they refuse to change the 32:9 case because it would piss of whales - profit first. Meanwhile, you say that the 32:9 change would please many players who want this change. So, GGG refuses to make a change that would get more ppl to play the game (the 32:9 crowd) who THEN would spend more money, but at the same time, they don't make the change because they want money. Mkay. EXP Loss You think that EXP loss only exists because they want these addicts to play 5 hours more, and 5 hours more, and 5 hours more, so they spend more money. Meanwhile, exp loss is an old mechanic. Used, for example, in Diablo 2, where you don't have a shop for ppl to "stretch out" their play time and increase spending, and PoE uses this "old school" mechanic too. You know, PoE is a spiritual successor of Diablo 2. Furthermore, having EXP loss for profits (increasing playtime) doesn't make any sense. Not only because some ppl quit the game because of the EXP loss, but more importantly - it works vice versa. "Without EXP loss more ppl reach lvl 100 and then start a new character, thus play longer and spend more money" Economy So, you think the focus on the economy is only because "we want profit". Having an economy, you CAN (but don't need to) engage with, increases exactly HOW profits? Ppl get way faster the items they want and spend theoretically less time with the game - thus spend less money. Seems like it has the opposite effect. Loot Loot what? Because loot is in a rough state atm? BREAKING: PoE2 is currently in Early Access (beta), where drop rates are not balanced! " Use omen and stop dying. Solved. Even without creating a second version of the game, GGG has to develop. " That's weird. A system (the economy) GGG ONLY implemented for pRoFiT now is something most ppl don't even engage with. Hm. Man... seems like they should find a way to force ppl even in early game to use trade so their profit driven system actually provides them profits. " " No. It can not. A deep sea cannot be a shallow puddle at the same time. You want to play X, but you select Y, then you want Y to be X, instead of selecting X from he start. " And GGG tells you: "If this thing prevents you from playing the game - play something else" literally. Last edited by JakkerONAIR#4902 on Mar 28, 2025, 2:31:24 AM

I think a good amount of us on the side of 32:9 can say, I play something else, literally. Why the arguements from the other side? I don't know, you play the game, it's the way you want it, etc..., on my end, I'm only trying to help the game and company. I'm alright if they don't want it and I suppose the naysayers are alright if they don't want the change either. So why argue with us over 32:9 or any other change someone inquires over? You'd probably be upset over the change just as we're upset over them not changing this 32:9 for us? Would any of you naysayers quit the game if they'd change for 32:9 to be ok?

no one would quit, when they would add native 32:9 support.
i quitted, becaused they 1. dont have native 32:9 support 2. they killed the possibility to play in 32:9 & are threatening to ban people, who just want to play solo 32:9. in 2025. in a game where its technically - as proven - no problem. all arguments against 32:9 are bs imho. |
