Warning for Ultra widescreen Mod after I disabled it

I've also noticed that not a single person against 32:9 (being honest), if it were in the game answered the question of whether they'd quit or not. That, says alot. And the end conclusion of what that says, is that taking 32:9 away, hurts the growing of the game and its players. It's a bad decision, if others cannot understand that, I don't know what much else to say to point this out. It's clear, it's easy to see, it's simple math and logical. But then again, these days are when the words are being said "Common sense, isn't all that common".

Yep, exactly. And their only argument for why they don't want 32:9 support is based entirely on the assumption that it's a significant advantage.

Meanwhile 32:9 was actually in the game for 2 months because of the mod, so if it really was a serious advantage, then someone would surely have made a build-guide on how to break the meta and abuse it. But this does not exist because it is NOT a big advantage at all.
Plus of course the race events which definitively proved its not an advantage.

It reminds me of MOBAs when you ask a low ranked player why they lost, they usually blame their teammates ("obviously I lost because my teammates sucked").

If someone is better at PoE 2 it's not an aspect ratio issue but a skill issue. It's crazy that this is not common sense.
wow great, now i have to sell my sports car and cannot play in 32:9. what did i do to deserve this.

the whole thing is, they said 32:9 users are a minority. (0.01% or even less)
when there are so few people playing like that, why does it matter so much to even ban it?
like many others said, it will hurt the game. speaking for myself, i wont play this game anymore. ive no-lifed the release for 2 months. played for more than 500 hours in that time and loved it. i have a samsung g9 32:9 OLED monitor and im not going to risk burn in when playing this game for hundreds of hours. (which i would do again and again and again) but those monitors are expensive and im not gonna destroy it for one single game that thinks im cheating.

500 hours of the same game with black bars will leave noticeable burn in and i dont want to miss the immersion of my awesome monitor, so im kinda forced to abandon the game. which is a bummer considering i bought the most expensive supporter pack too.
paranostrum#3599 Same g9 monitor here! And now that I have it, no way am I going backwards! You're darn right it's an expensive monitor and there's NO way am I risking anything with it (It's freegin awesome and beautiful!). I've bought it to ENJOY it and that's exactly what I'm going to do (as I would also with the game "bought it to enjoy it" and I don't enjoy it with black bars and a possibility to hurt my monitor) This silly issue is just absurd. As I've mentioned. The ONLY game in my whole arsenal of games that has this issue! It'll be nearly a month soon that I haven't even clicked to log into the game. So sad.
That's also the monitor I have :)

It was a gift from my job, but I had to upgrade the electrical wiring of my home to use it with my PC.

I hope GGG realizes ultrawide will only get increasingly common so they'll stop discriminating against us. Preferably also in competitive events as I don't even think the advantage is anywhere near substantial enough to warrant the limitation there.

I would describe myself as a casual competitor, I will never do things like memorizing map layouts or repeating a run multiple times to practice. But I still enjoy seeing how I stack up to the best on a purely skill/strategy basis. However that's still something I would do for fun, so if my aspect ratio is further limited in those events I'm skipping them.
Discriminating really seems correct. It's like, hey you! You're not like the others, we'll still let you ride the bus but not like that!

Beyond that, I've noticed in their newest patch, they havn't pulled through with the things they've talked about a while back. There's not even a new act and it's going into April. Makes me wonder that, sure they made money and were actually quite profitable when the game launched early access. However, the future may not be looking as bright as they'd like it to be? Which is exactly what I've already mentioned here earlier. The game needs players and the flow to continue in a nice progression forward. And if I quit and others have quit over something quite simple, I would also figure others have done the same.

My issue is quite easy to fix up and I'd be back playing and I know some of my friends who would also. But I don't even know if we're being listened to here. I had to come into this chat to even find out why I was possibly going to be banned. I've never been banned from a game before in my life. I know what cheating is. Usually some kind of aim-bot, make lots of money hack, life hack, invincibility, etc... NEVER thought it'd be a certain aspect ratio on a monitor! I have to draw the line somewhere on that one. That one just doesn't sit right.

10 years later in time if the game is still going. Are they still going to ban people from over 21:9? Technology will grow, people will enjoy newer monitors and probably larger and can actually afford it and get 1. Are they still going to be banning those people from the game!? That's just how nuts and absurd this is.
It really is a L take from GGG.

There are so few that play on 32:9 that GGG won't even notice a dent if we collectively decide to quit the game.

The game is good and so is the business model and I am willing to accept being shafted by the developers if they arbitrarely decide that the hardware I own is screwing other people over. I don't think it does. Neither does anybody who owns this type of monitor.

It's not viable enough in MMOs for people to consider making the switch.
It's not viable enough in shooters for people to consider making the switch.
It's not viable enough for a lot of genres.

There are some games in which it does give a advantage but they usually include fog of war types of solutions to make it fair for anyone playing 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 etc.

There are some games in which it does give a disadvantage. A reduced PoV is essential for player focus in counter strike. In league having that resolution is a detriment since the map is to far to the left side and moving your camera is awkward since the corners are mostly inaccessible. In all these games and many more, I still prefer my native resolution because the enjoyment I derive from that is worth it.

Regardless, I will put up with this because Path of Exile 2 is a genuinely fun game to play. It would be wonderful if many others and I didn't have to.
I'm on ultra widescreen, I don't particularly feel bothered. I don't mind how it looks and I haven't modified anything.
I'm just worried about burn-in on my oled monitor due to being capped at 21:9
This whole situation sounds ridiculous. People own or will be buying modern ultra-wide monitors in the near future. It's not fair to not allow them to play the game in the native resolution of their monitors. Having to play with black bars on your expensive monitor in 2025 in a modern game is completely unacceptable.
GGG - please just add the ultra-wide resolutions IN GAME, as it's the only right thing to do.
