Warning for Ultra widescreen Mod after I disabled it
" I know precisely why. You were arguing on the forums and you got banned mid conversation. I saw it happen. |

Uummm, for the moment. I simply quit cause there's no 32:9, not cause anything is far difficult. I would call the story of the game and playthrough quite good! End game needs "something", also quite long, but I guess alright?
But what the heck am I competing against that using 32:9 is considered actual cheating!? Am I looking across the table at someone elses work to copy it onto mine? Nah. Am I putting some kind of blockage into someone elses way to slow them down or beat them in some way? Nah, don't see that either. Am I giving myself some kind of boost over some other player? Seeing I'm not competing against anyone, nope. Am I somehow getting more loot than some other person maybe? Not that I know of, I mostly get junk. Do I clear a map faster? Doubt it, I'm not at all amongst the top players and don't care to be. Dang, what could it be? How about this for cheating? I can only (and it's a must) play this game for a certain amount of hours on certain days, which gives me a certain amount of exp and skills of how to do things, amount of loot, gold, many other things etc... Another player, maybe plays 14 hours (just a # I'm throwing out there) a day!? And on more days than I can ever do. This player, then, to me, has a CLEAR advantage over me. How is this, then, not considered cheating? (To NOT be cheating, all players have equality, in this case it's not at all possible, so clearly, no equality, and since there's no equality, someone's cheating) This player has clear advantages over others. Even over those who have a 32:9. Yet, the person who plays less, who worked to pay for a nice monitor, gets the penalty? Some things here are just messed up. But they don't think about that do they? This game isn't even really all that competitive if you ask me. There's speed runs and that's it? Well, put whoever is doing speed runs in some other game bracket thing and let all others play how they like! geeze. Detect mods or whatever in the competitive side. Leave others alone? |

" Basically. Some players really like engaging in the economy and compete in it. Many of them have a viewpoint that it's incredibly competitive, akin to a game like League, where an ultrawide would be a huge advantage. GGG enables this, and even balances and designs the game around it. Even though it's a very small percentage of players that actually engage with this mechanic in such a way. Everyone else loses. Even if everyone else plays the game in a largely single player way. Another example of a game being live service just for the sake of player engagement. There's zero reason you shouldn't be able to use an ultrawide with this other than this forced economy/competition. Even GGG knows it's a weak reason, otherwise they would be handing out perma-bans for it, and not warnings. Last edited by Akedomo#3573 on Mar 23, 2025, 8:17:58 PM

" Aha. And what happened? |

" You really are taking this to an extreme. I agree that seeing more of the map may be an advantage and speed up player progression, but it remains pretty far down the list compared to other poe-specific advantages no one bans for: - actual character build - amount of visual clusterfuck associated with the build (the less aoe particles the better) - player patience and ability to keep moving cautiously over long periods to reduce random oneshot frequency - advanced party composition with dedicated aurabot, MF cullers, and cursebot - client fps - network latency - controllers, including good mouse/keyboard with hardware input macros And you need to grind 24/7 in order to accumulate noticeable time save from your vision. Anything less and any 16:9 nolifer will "outcompete" you. On the other hand, the negatives: - looks universally ugly. Safe to say no one chooses black bars if he can avoid them - may cause monitor burnout if you play black bars a lot - affects everyone, including those who couldn't care less about any competition all the way down to SSF. If you really believe that every trade league player is actively competing, what about SSF players?:) Implementing proper solution like fog of war - supposedly costly and time-consuming. So it boils down to simply keep/remove black bars. To whether or not they are worth all the problems they bring. I think not. |

i have a solution:
game locked to 16:9, 60fps, max screen size 27", no usb keyboards and mice (because of the possibility of macros), controller gets their own league, no third party software, max playtime set to 2 hours per day. (people with more time to play have a huge competitive advantage and this should be seen as cheating too) on a serious note, everyone thinking that playing in 32:9 in this game should be considered cheating is completely out of their mind. gloating joy is the only reason to advocate for that and you should seek professional help if thats the case. |

" Come on, 60 fps is outright cheating, GGG should cap everyone's fps to the lowest fps player present in the given league:) We have serious competition here you know. I have to write serious and detailed posts about this because white knights tend to latch on words to downplay and personally attack you, stretching "advantage" to an extreme. " I wonder how long it will take ppl to understand the difference between "performance advantage" and "information advantage". You know, only one can be monitored (pun not intended) by GGG. |

" 3rd party trading software is a massive information advantage due to price checking alone, it formally breaks ToS, yet it isn't monitored or enforced in any way. And not a single post from you about unfair competitive advantage. Instead we hunt a few pesky UW users by axing FOV for everyone. |

" The 3rd party trading tools do not give you MORE information and besides that, "Awakened PoE/Exile Exchange" does not break ToS in any way, GGG allows them to be used for QoL. Furthermore, ppl already agreed on "Fog of War for UW users", so they don't have an advantage, but can use their full monitor. |
