Legacy of Phrecia Endgame Specialisation System

While I am excited to play with this system, testing a new thing on PoE 1 players when they have been desperate for new content is really shitty.
Many people seems to hate the new Idol system over the atlas tree...

I, myself, love it! The only thing I hate about it is that this will be a 1 month league so idk how grinding these idols will feel over a short time, would have prefered more time :P

I like the concept in Sanctum and also in Heist with the trinket. Looking forward to this league!
Ah this post killed my entire excitement for this event. Atlas is the best thing about PoE1 and it's getting turned into a slot machine. Just like the entirety of PoE2
I just want to be loved.
(Good update tho)
scrap this idol idea. keep those new ascendancy idea. fix your claim "people hate to respec atlas" by just adding more tree load outs. make it 8 instead of 3.
BOOM ! DONE ! LESS RESOURCES WASTED ! PLAYER HAPPY !
This is a reminder to everyone that you can, and should vote with your time (and money for supporter packs). If you like the league, then great, play the game and have fun! If you do not, that is okay too! Go play or do something else. It is okay to step away from a game (or company) if you are not having fun with it or do not like the direction they are heading in.

I am certain GGG does look at the metrics of play time and player count throughout the league. It would be outrageous if they did not. If they see player count and average play time is lower, then they know the changes they implemented do not work and they should understand what needs to be reworked, fixed, or undone. So if you are upset or do not think the league looks fun, then do not play it and GGG will notice.

That all being said, it is still okay to be upset and to let your voice be heard. I agree with people who are saying that it is unfair that POE 1 is acting more as a testing ground for POE 2 rather than being a standalone game, but it is not an excuse to be rude or to spew hate.

I agree. If the event goes live with this system in place as planned, I'll definitely stick to playing Settlers rather than giving this event metrics. I'd rather play a stale league than deal with rng gated atlas progression.
More micromanagement, lol
Well...

Poe2 turned out to suck massively.
Was waiting to see what the next content for Poe1 would be and... it's Beta Testing for Poe2.

Guess it'll be another six month hiatus.
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.
My preliminary thoughts:

The 'Atlas Passive Skill Tree' is one of the best systems that were introduced to the game. In its current state, it is one of the cornerstones as to why Path of Exile is such a great game.

I doubt that this system will be a better one. In concept, it has a potential of being good. It could also be bad and even worse. It all depends on some factors that need to be met.

- "Idols are not consumed when opening maps." It's crucial that this is how idols will work. If this was not the case, then this concept would've been just bad and nothing could even make it be good.

- "Idols are not modifiable." This needs to be changed. They need to be modifiable. If not, then we are forced to play and interact with game mechanics that we don't want to play or interact with. Which means this is a downgrade from the current system that gives us more agency in that aspect. It also means more useless and tedious grinding for no apparent reason. (It seriously saddens me when you introduce concepts that try to take player agency away, and try to reduce the modularity in different game systems. Those two concepts are also amongst the main reasons why Path of Exile is such a great game.)

- If acquiring all the different types of idols in the game is equivalent to having the full power/utility of the 'Atlas Tree', then this will be a good system. If it gives us more power/utility, then it will be a better system. If not either, then this is will be a down grade from the current system.

- If the 'Map Receptacle' compartment thing can hold a total number of Idols that will give us the same 'content customization/specialization power' that the 132 atlas tree points give us, then this will be a good system. If it gives more, then it will be a better system. If not either, then this is a down grade.

- The availability and the acquisition of these idols are a huge factor in how this whole system will feel. It also needs to be balanced around actually playing the game and acquiring them solely by oneself, and NOT around trading for them. Trading should be looked at as an extra utility of the game. Game systems should be balanced around playing the game and not be balanced around trading. Not everyone likes trading. Some people despise it. Trading is also usually heavily monopolized by different groups who control the market for different reasons. Which makes it even a more despicable experience.

- Please, pay a good deal of attention to how map progression and sustainability will work with this system. This is the basis of everything.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If all those points are met positively, then this will be an interesting concept to try for this event. Worse comes to worst, it's just an event and things will go back to normal after.

We will be able to judge for certain when we actually get to experience it in game. Good luck to everyone.
Started playing in Ultimatum and got serious in Archnemesis.
