@GGG Please update the post for clarity:

It's really important for GGG to explain in the text of the post that these idols are not consumed on use.

If you miss the last line of the descriptive text from the images, this system looks like a COLOSSAL step backward (because the impression is of clunky/worse scarabs) - but once you realise that it's basically permanent atlas passives in item form with affixes, it starts to dawn what GGG is actually going for.

It actually ends up working much more similarly to the relic locker from sanctum/sekhema, but it's just not clear from the explanation right now.

Removing the atlas is not the way. Removing the determinism of how we want to play the game is kind of outrageous. GGG has already said they want less loot dropping and now they're adding more RNG loot drops. I don't care if this new system creates more loot/hr than the atlas, it won't make up for the fact that I dislike certain mechanics and don't want to interact with them. I want to buff the mechanics I like.

This comes across as blatant PoE2 testing and that feels like a slap in the face.

This sounds terrible. Removing the determinism from endgame progression is exactly what people are complaining about in PoE 2. The atlas tree is literally the best thing in this game, why replace it? Just void the league and give both. Not everything needs to be a trade-off.

so, poe is transitioning to a pay to play model?
poe 2: EA for the next several years
poe 1: cool new features added as private league options rather than simply going core

Atlas skill tree is one of my favorite changes that have been introduced to the game, the fact that you have to undo the tree is not such a tragedy, especially now that we have 3 of them, so I hope that this is only for an event and not a permanent change
