Dear GGG, Stop Trying to Make a Game For Everyone; Stick to your Core POE1 Customers

i dont agree with all, bec poe2 is different and has a "difficult" position. It wasnt planned to make a seperate game, but i allways vote for that as we talk in guild.

But , i totally understand you . All new player are welcome, but a immigration into a 13 year community never goes easy . ;) Just avoid forum and reddit, so u dont get trigger. (hope ggg does it too)

Btw, i miss my old maps too. But they had a lot space for improvement,so i just relax.
At this moment POE2 "crafting" is just big fat bs. I've been trying to "craft" a quarterstaff a whole week, daily, picking EVERY damn quarterstaff 80+ it dropped (hundreds) normal, magic, rare.
I upgraded all the normal ones up to rare until was showing is not possible to get more prefixes to get over 120% phys increase, did the same for the magic ones too. Identified all the rares and even exalted every single one if it had the chance to get higher %inc phys dmg.
In hundreds of tries 1-2 got to 120%ish value but with the flat phys dmg increase low enought to just vendor it. (keep in mind 120% phys inc is still lame, you need much more for a decent quarterstaff)

like... come on.. is the only way to craft in poe2 just if you use essences? bleh

They decided to keep both games at the same time and make POE2 into something different. First plan doesn't matter at all now. Thus OP's suggestion to focus on POE1 community is completely off the table. They need to focus on new players more (if they want both games to survive), because POE1 players will keep playing POE1 but only POE2 has much better potential to attract new players. As that game is still in hot state, that can be adjusted and reformed.

Hence my original post. Trying to get a hypothetical player base at the expense of a sure player base is a very risky gamble. One that wont work because GGG doesnt have the marketing of Blizzard to upsell a crappy game to a bunch of people that cant handle an ARPG with depth.

Furthermore its clear to everyone that they have completely abandoned POE1 support.
Core poe audience can go play poe1.
This is what you get when you invite other people - outsider's perspective. So called veteran players are just victims of bad mechanics with Stockholm syndrom.

This game already did great with inviting new players and now they make changes for the better of everyone, including you. You might not understand it yet, but you will enjoy a better game in the end.

POE1 has not had anything released in 9 months. Its clear GGG has abandoned support for it, once again breaking their word.

The more I interact with the POE2 crowd, the less I want to play POE2. This whole thread is full of ad-hominem nastiness that is typical of the D4 and now POE2 crowd.

"Hypothtical player base" - Tries to misrepresent actual audience that is MUCH bigger than your original poe1 stockholm players.

"Hypothtical player base" - In a game that had peak of 500k+ playercount and dayly 200k. That is what your poe1 could only do in all time peak.

"a sure player base" - That player base of 3k daily players that peaked at 10k recently only because poe2 was announced. You only came back to 100k for like 1 month to play new content and left.

"expense of" - That is a notion that you decided to believe. What is happening in reality is that the game is going to become better for everyone.

"is a very risky gamble" - So risky that they already succeeded in early acces having 500k people peak and 200k retention. And as soon as druid comes with new content it will skyrocket again. They already created a good following.

"crappy game" - If its so bad, why are you still here? Ah right, stockholm syndrom.

ARPG with depth - Imagine calling 4 death penalty mechanics "depth".

Nobody will miss you. You are so emotionaly invested in one game that its actually insane. You manage to shit on GGG in regards to po1 and at the same time you shit on GGG in regards to po2. Maybe, just maybe, its time to find another game to play?
Whether you like what GGG are doing with PoE2 or not (and I have some issues with it), I think your doom and gloom prediction is way off. There are far more people playing PoE2 right now than in any PoE1 league a month in, and whilst this will almost certainly decline, the numbers seem very stable.

Launching a new, highly expensive product is always a gamble, there is no sure thing and there is certainly no pleasing everyone. There was always going to be people who think its too similar to PoE1, or too different.

Whilst your opinion is valid I don't think you speak for nearly as many people as you think you do, and if you are unhappy with the tone of replies in the thread, maybe you should be careful of your own.
I got a better idea: stop listening to Poe1 customers, they already have a working game they like and do a real new game with different gameplay and balance and listen to the much more numerous people that manifested their interest in the new game by buying their access into the EA.

For the vast majority they like the campaign rythme and balance and dislike the late game faster paced.

Also: stop throwing 'casual' at people with low Poe1 hour count, like you would say noobs back in the days. Having thousands of hours logged into Poe1 doesn't make you an expert in anything else than Poe1. This nearly disqualify you to express opinion for a new take on the brand. You got people like me with much fewer hours on PoE but 43 years of experience on computer gaming that know a things or two about what make a good game or not and what people want to play and buy.
