Dear GGG, Stop Trying to Make a Game For Everyone; Stick to your Core POE1 Customers

The self proclaimed 'PoE veterans' are the most toxic on this forum to be honest. You think you hold all truth and speak for all PoE veterans. And you don't. I played 2500 hours of PoE1 and I think PoE2 is infinitely better.

The one thing I absolutely hated about PoE1 is the crafting, I'd rather have the RNG fest we have now.

the most toxic comment until now in this thread is yours btw. talking about being "honest". poe2 is not infinitely better, not at all, not by any means. its not even close in any aspect but visuals.
you can say you like this or that more, thats fine. but the fact you like it more doesnt make it the better game.
You mean all 8,000 of them who don't buy enough cosmetics to cover their paychecks? Which is why GGG carved out their PoE2 as basic DLC into a new game to get NEW players.

You know why you NEVER cater to the 'Hardcore'? They're too small to be worth listening to.

And even worse? They chase away potential money, by screaming nonsensical things like 'Git GUUUUUUD!' 'Go away!' 'You're too stupid to play this game!!!!' which destroys games.

GGG doesn't want to go out of business, so they best they can do? Is ignore them. And if that drives ALL the 'hardcore' away? That wouldn't make a dent if GGG catered to the average gamer.

But they never have listened to anyone.

Really dont care what you think of me.

If you are telling the truth you have not purchased much, if anything, in all that time and your opinion, among POE1 people, appears to be in the minority.
The OP is right in every aspect.
I would sing under every word he wrote.

All they had to do is make a "PoE1 but better", instead, they made this..

However, PoE2 is still leagues ahead of anything else in ARPG genre right now and I will continue playing it like a maniac.

Pissing off your core player base to get a new Hypothetical player base is a really bad business strategy. It's even worse if you dont have a big company like Activision to back you up.

POE2 is a lot more hardcore than POE1. By comparison POE1 Ruthless is pretty easy. Why? Not because of bosses but because of a dozen other things lined out in a dozen threads and by genius content creators like Kripparian.

Again, POE2 is a lot more hardcore but its problem is it just isnt fun. Its boring from start to finish. For a lot of the reasons I have laid out in other threads.

And I will point out that GGG was not in danger of going out of business from the POE1 crowd. Who do you think financed this game? It was the POE1 players.

Through YEARS of iterations we have discovered what works in ARPGs via POE1.

PoE had 10-15k players online at end of leagues on Steam. That's near the same amount of players online every day in Tibia, which is a 30 year old outdated 2D MMORPG. If you assume half of players are on Steam (I'd guess it's more like 80%), then it's only around 3 times the size of Tibia.

If that's your definition of "what works" for a game, then maybe your definition is too weak.

By the way, I'm only talking about overall playerbase engagement and game design. GGG probably makes a shit ton of money milking whales, and they were likely very profitable.

If you were correct GGG would have failed a long time ago and the servers would be off. So clearly your arent. GGG has spikes when the game releases a league then it tapers off untul the next league. They have made these graphs public. If some bean counter from 10 cent says they need to make another minecraft for the braindead that person should be fired.

Not only did GGG grow to gain massive revenue, it did it with almost no marketing budget and it raised enough money to finance POE2.

So clearly your business acumen is ... wanting.

Are you ok? Did you read my post?

Maybe your reading acumen is ... nonexistent

Better than any other ARPG out there EXCEPT .... POE1. Which is what i have been playing for the last week, happily. I still have hope they will see sense and change things though. Thats why I bought the biggest supporter pack and am posting on the forums.

I read your post. There is no way to milk "whales" in poe1. You cant buy your way to endgame. The most you can buy is cosmetics. I have put about 2500 into just my 2 accounts in POE1 and have gifted maybe another 2k to others like my three children. I cant think of much else I can buy unless I want the spore footprints or something. There are no recurring expenditures to be had in the store. Dont take my word for it ... dont ... go into the POE store and add up everything you can buy if yo uwanted everything. Id be stunned if it broke 5k.

These are very odd points people use.

You hated the crafting and prefer the rng fest.

Why did you even do crafting then? And if you already chose not to do it why did it bother you?

That's the weirdest take I've ever seen anyone make. I didn't craft all that much because I hated it. I would've crafted more if it wasn't so stupidly complex (not difficult, complex). It bothered me that a very large part of the game was so inaccessible. Secondly, I crafted A LOT when we just had the masters. I started crafting less and less with each league because new complex craft mechanics were introduced.

Also, I'm going to send your point right back to you. If you don't like the path that PoE2 is taking, why does it bother you?
