What aspects of the game are actually an improvement over poe1?
I cant think of a single gameplay mechanic where i would say, thats clearly an improvement over how it works in Poe1
So Im curious what you think, besides things like graphics, soundeffects, storytelling etc. what game mechanics do you think are an improvement over poe1 ? atlas progression, ailments, dmg conversion, attributes, freedom in build creation, charges (endu, frenzy, power ) it all just seems worse and/or dumbed down in comparison, at least in my opinion. mechanically pretty much nothing
the engine in general, animations, sound design, graphical presentation etc are all drastically superior however and they contribute heavily to a great gameplay "feel". Its a funny one because the hard part they have done the best job of, its the things they already have a template of where its drastically worse than PoE1. |

I actually think attributes and charges are fundamentally better now, but lack enough support yet to properly shine.
Ailments need work. Ailments in PoE1 in my own opinion weren't good either. I think PoE2 ailments have more potential, but need support and a few innate tweaks too. The combat SHOULD feel better and more interactive, but the entire game feels balanced around PoE1 combat (which was already bad to be fair) which makes it worse than PoE1 in the end since we have all these cool tools that are pointless since 1 or even 0 button blasters are the only meta. Defensive stats like armour, evasion, energy shield, and block/raise shield all need to be re-balanced too. A ton of those fall into the category of trying something new.
A fair comparison is to compare to poe1 v1.3 or v2.0 Back then they were also trying something new all the time. poe1 after 3.0 is just so stable, I don't think we can compare it with poe2 EA. For example runes, now we can overwrite them, well what does that feel like? A crafting table! Since you can hotswap whatever suits you the best now. But with only 25 options. Which will need to occupy 25 stash slots. They can break down runes requirements back into alts and alcs and taadaa, you got poe1. Not to mention the crafting table is also a div sink, so divs actually gets to be used. |

Totally nothing, if not to say worse than POE1.
Frankly 0,1 of what poe1 can offer. The only thing pretended to be an improvement is Atlas, where they were trying to combine maps with Azurite Mines. Many people loved Azurite Mines they were fine. Only there you were traveling from point A to point B relatively fast, trying to reach places you are interested in. And it was fine. While maps are way too large, each one offers you it's own objectives. Stretching the time till you will reach places you want to go. Not even saying there is too litle such places. And they knew they are launching the game in this terrible state. Even if we will ignore all the bugs, annoying factors etc it is still too boring to play right now. I'm not playing at least, even though I recently have spent around 150divines to upgrade items and a level 96 with a half. Still not even launching it. Screw it. |

Trying out new things is fine, making almost every mechanic in the game objectively worse than in the first one is questionable. Jonathan said he hasnt played poe1 in 6 years and thats such a crazy thing that the devs just seem to ignore 6 years of improvement and development of their own game and it really shows in so many aspects. Runes now are essentially just a worse version of a crafting bench. Why worse? It serves the same purpose but it adds a bunch of unnecessary currency bloat (=runes) and it removes a sink for currency like transmutes and alts, which you are probably sitting on hundreds with no real use. You point this out yourself, its just an objectively worse system with no obvious improvement ( at least to me ) So again im asking, what mechanics do you think are an improvement over poe1 ? | |

I would say graphic but I have to look at overlay to navigate 24/7 so it's not really change much.
