If you have a solution for bots, let us know.

Captchas exist and are in use in other AH systems.

Next.

Not only that, but we have a AH atm, it's just old and outdated because it's a site. Wth kind of dumb reason to not have a AH is zergy_eggy making here. We HAVE bots, we HAVE scammers. And they have it super easy atm. a in-game AH would help a LOT of things get better and smoother. Why are so many ppl scared of a AH. Thinking it will destroy a game. When it is ALREADY THERE. It's just a crap AH.

A other GREAT example of why we NEED a AH.

I wanted to buy a ring. Got like 10 ppl whispered for a offer (because you need to do plenty of ppl or you ain't getting sh*t whit the current system). I get a whisper back. I think it's the 25 ex guy. So i trade him 25 ex for the ring. In like 3 sec i notice its actually 29ex for this guy. So a add the 4 extra ex.

I get called a scammer and all kinds of things with the end being now "get ignored as well". So this a hole of a guy. And i am gone name drop "ThisNameWasTakenn" just got angry for a simple mistake i corrected in like 3 sec. No one is trying to scam you in a trade YOU can see and count if it is correct!

With a AH this kind of a holes are a thing of the past and we can just buy stuff without this thing happening.

Honestly, from a seller perspective, I don't blame them. They've likely been scammed before.

I've had people offer me alchemy orbs instead of exalts on several occasions. I've had people offer 60ex with 3 stacks of exalts - except one was 10ex. Had 3 divines offered in trade for a 5d item and so on...

It's not your fault - but sellers are constantly on edge for weird buyer behavior because attempts to short us are so absurdly common.

In short - sorry it happened to you and it's very unfortunate that this is the "friction" that the current trading system offers.
You'r not gonna get an AH, ever.

Each mode in this game comes with some friction attached to it; hc players will eventually lose their characters, ssf players will eventually lose their s**t farming X items, trade players will eventually lose X amount of their gameplay time trading.

That's how it is and should be, so stop asking for even more facilities for a mode that actually trivializes 95% of the game.

Get over it and enjoy ur friction just as we all do.

My time is wasted trading or trying to trade.

It's always been funny to me how GGG used the word "friction" when others tend to use "challenge" - but the common mistake game designers make is mistaking tedious game design as a challenge and thinking that overcoming it will make players feel rewarded.

The current trading system adds nothing but tedium to the game and the only reward we feel at the end of a trade is that we can go back to actually playing the game.

It's a net negative system. It only adds tedium and overcoming tedium is not rewarding.
I would be interested if the majority of the people who want this AH never played poe1, or not very much.

Using poe1 as a benchmark other than a few people who never responded (this was 99.99999% of the time currency traders)
There was no real issue using the site for several years.

I know it's just my personal anecdotal evidence but it's still years worth of usage and I have never been scammed and non replies on gear, I would assuming some are just the item is sold and they are to lazy to respond/ didn't have the auto reply overlay.

Seems more of a bot issue than ah issue. Of which meh who cares about bots in an irrelevant ea league at the end of the day.

This is the funniest post I have read in a minute. You do realize that GGG has already stated in podcasts to the public that we would be getting an AH? It would have a high gold cost for gear, but it was confirmed.

You're welcome. <o

I remember when trading in PoE was making a thread and linking your items then PMing people on the forum to arrange a time to make a trade.

That was a lot of "friction".

I didn't like it then either and wanted an AH.

What we have today is light years ahead of what the "vision" was and I'm glad that GGG was dragged kicking and screaming into giving us the trade site that we have today.

Now we just need to drag them a little bit further past the finish line...

I remember having to in recent years use the trade site to live link items in POE. Forum listings are not fun to make. QWQ

And LE has helped bring them into the modern era of ARPGs need AH. We really gotta give credit to LE for having an AH in their game, it was the wake up call GGG needed cause they sure as heck weren't listening to the community. xD

8000+ hours in POE 1, and a big part of what eventually drove me away was all the "friction" in trading. It killed my desire to play each and every league once it started to bog down my builds, waiting for people to reply, stopping what I'm doing to trade.

It's always been a terrible system, and Chris really needs to get over his need to impose his style of masochism on the playerbase.

Now in POE 2, which I'm shocked at myself I'm even attempting to play after all the years of abuse - trading is worse than ever. It feels SO ARCHAIC to be alt-tabbing and going to a janky website to message 30+ people to buy one minor upgrade.

It's not going to break the game to allow players some QoL, no matter how scary that concept is to GGG, for whatever reason. The leagues I personally played the longest, and had friends playing the longest during - were the ones in which the game was the most fun, had the most QoL. Then Chris comes along the next league, irritated that people had fun, and nerfs half of whatever made the last league fun for me and many others. (Minions, which were my mainstay archetype, got to the point where it wasn't worth my time bothering to play anymore with all the leagues of nerfs.)

Even trading in vaunted, mythical D2 was better than trading in POE1/2, in some respects - because at least it didn't require alt-tabbing out of the game. The nostalgia of D2 doesn't, and never did, come from the "friction" anyway - it came from the ambiance and environment and gameplay. The lack of QoL wasn't what drew us all in back then...it was cutting-edge back then, everything was low QoL, all games had tons of forced friction.

TLDR: GGG needs to finally get over their misplaced nostalgia for player suffering, and introduce QoL features, starting with some form of AH.
