PSA on Quarter Staves...
It's 157% increased cold damage tree (attack damage + elemental damage + cold damage), counting only static multipliers except for Echoing Frost (+30% if chilled recently), including +27% cold damage from a ring. Both rings have T8 flat phys. My weapon. Assuming that IED on weapon is global mod (it does not change the value of elemental damage on weapon while IPD changes the value of physical damage on weapon), I think T5+ IED (100%+) is not inferior. If I pick 3 major damage clusters in 10 more levels (lv84 currently), it will be +139%, +296% in total. IED would still work if I happen to have higher values. Well, my biggest concern is the skill gem arrangement. It's going to be really interesting. :) Edit "is not inferior" "would still work" refers "if I can choose IED or hybrid phys" I don't mention about runes/cores because no one is consoling about my subpar weapon. Okay maybe were losing sight of the point. I am not debating the validity of a Hybrid Staff vs a Pure Phys staff. As there are reasons for either or. IE Cracking vs Slicing staves isnt the issue. My point simply is POE math scales better on ELM damage on attack than iron runes specifically. And if you are a player looking to buy a new staff simply looking at DPS SUM or DPS ELM or DPS PHYS does not truly provide a proper guage of what weapon will actually be an upgrade for you due to ELM damage on attack is not calculated in that DPS consideration.
Also Fun fact on that phys staff go do the math on what that top end number should be POE isnt even mathing that correctly... Thats a side tangent to think of. Toss a Chaos to your Leader

Quick overview. Same tree. Only changing weapon.
Ice Strike (80% phys to cold damage conversion) DPS on stats will be around 19300 for the 3rd weapon if it was 4.9 attack per second base (and a bit more with +4 melee skills instead of +2) Edit I chose iron runes on the 1st weapon instead of citaqualotl soul cores because, - I don't have base elemental damage on weapon (only T9 flat fire damage on gloves) - I have dynamic "increased damage if crit" multipliers (+106%) in addition to static +157% increases from tree and +86% from weapon. The final results would be almost identical. (0.46% more with iron runes) With x3 Charged Staff on the 1st weapon Stop Bombing /Flu_prevention_mode ON Moment Joon 【Passport & Garcon】https://bit.ly/2wXiUSj MonoNeon 【Put On Earth For You】https://bit.ly/3I22mru Last edited by finisterre#5659 on Dec 30, 2024, 11:34:02 AM

And thats fine but you need to keep in mind Iron rune 40% phys increase to the weapon 60% Elm damage with attacks is globally done not just the weapon. So it will enhance flat damage from rings gloves and nodes on tree.

Look you want very clear simple stats , you all are talking but its so simple.
Increased Physical Damage. (220 +) Added Physical damage ( highest role - mega important) 3rd. can be another added dmg ( or increased elemental dmg with attacks) 4. Critical strike chance. 5. +7 level to skills 6. Attack speed This would be best then you vaal it for the 3rd rune or extra enchant of ele dmg. ( depending on your build) this is the best possible outcome a mirror tier stave. |

Since youre talking about elemental monk specifically, i feel its amiss nobody mentioned "%damage as extra"
Monks get 2 nodes at the start of their path with "5% as extra" and 2 ascendancies for 10% as extra each. for a possible total of 30% "as extra." Elem Damage to Attacks doesnt contribute to this, instead it scales after the extra conversion. So extra flat phys on your weapon results in even more extra flat element to be multiplied later by all the increases. Of course it depends on stats and tree, but 30% MORE flat damage is hard to beat. |

Dropped only defensive nodes. Added all said nodes.
tree
It's just for science. I do not drop "and protect me from harm" or "sunder my enemy" ascendancy node actually but may switch "thunder" to "blizzard" if I find other reliable way to shock.
I kind of liking the slow resistance nodes so I won't change the tree for now but anyway. After changes With x3 Charged Staff Before changes (from previous post) Cross Reference I reverted all changes back to original tree but picked one of major damage nodes (3 points including "Blind Strike", 45% increased attack damage in total) as I suggested in previous post, instead of "I am blizzard" (10% of damage as cold damage) from ascendancy and 2 of "5% of damage as extra x damage" nodes (4 points in total). Edit All those numbers I posted did not delegitimatize anything but seems partially backing each points from posters. Taking account all things I learned from this discussion, this is my conclusion for now. Pure upgrade except for less accuracy due to unspec'ing passing nodes (15 dex) to conditional damage nodes. Physical is reduced by armor, elemental is reduced by resistances, so it really depends on what you are fighting and if you can break armor or lower resistances.
Light Radius is the only real stat that matters. |

" Does Flicker Strike or the Bell convert to elemental ? No it does not , that's why my big physical stick can reach hundreds of K in DPS and delete Bosses immediately when i launch FS on my Bell . Last edited by Ashyev#5110 on Dec 30, 2024, 7:20:02 PM

" Well again my point is about conversion right. yes flicker/chayula people this doesnt apply. but id be willing to bet most Monks are doing some sort of elm conversion due to skills. So obviously those would be the exception. (I also was doing flicker and got tired of dealing with the charges (side note I have a way to fix that easily enough). So I personally changed to flurry and shock wave. And I to can clap the hell out of T15/16 bosses with a party no sweat charge/bell unbound avatar and poof mega DPS. Toss a Chaos to your Leader
