POE 2 HAS A MAJOR LOOT ISSUE FOR SOME PLAYERS
" 100hrs in PoE2 made me go back to playing PoE1 (which I didn't really deep dive into because it felt overwhelming), and I can tell you that loot in PoE1 is infinitely better even if you ignore crafting aspect. Sure, there are garbage items too but at least you get steady upgrades throughout the campaign and if you add benchcrafts on top, you can go to whole different level. I started SSFHC character yesterday and I was already capped on elemental resists by level 20 (but that's partly due to the fact that there are actual resists in the passive tree) |

Yeah, the loot here is a dumpster fire.
To even complete the open world I had to gamble all my money to get yellows that were mana shield to play Sorc. I gave up on the Chaos Trial all together, now, the game is just mindless grinding story zones to massively over level to burst damage before I get swamped by melee mobs and every second rare that is "armoured" suddenly... |

i thought this game was supposed to have smart loot?
instead we get even worse crafting than PoE 1 and are gated to trade to find upgrades. I do think they have something planned for crafting, to make it more targeted. Or at least I hope so. I miss the crafting bench from PoE. Being able to slap on missing resists and movespeed was great. |

" You know, when I started the first night, I was able to drop bunch load of exalts. The drop was complete garbage, but with some trading, the magic could happen. At some point, the "balance" responsible people came up with the best idea - to limit the currency drop during campaign. And the currency drop was replaced with "MORE GEAR DROP". Smart right? Well, no. Completely idiotic actually. The drop is still useless AND you get no currency to trade. |

Agreed, 100%. The loot is bad.
It's not just a quality issue (and make no mistake, quality is a huge issue)... its also quantity issue. 80% of the items that drop are for other classes. After leveling 2 characters to level 90+ and getting frustrated with using the same items for 40+ levels despite clearing in excess of 100 tier 15+ maps, I started a warrior. When I did, the same patterns I noticed on my other characters emerged again. I didn't get a single warrior item to drop until level 6. Everything that dropped was for another class, and while technically I could have worn it (and often did) I shouldn't be going 6 levels without any maces, shields, or non-ES/evasion gear dropping on a class that is all about maces and stacking armor. I had to gamble for starter items. After that, I turned off the game and never looked back. The loot is that bad. Last edited by whowe1#7244 on Jan 8, 2025, 8:46:25 AM

I think I read somewhere that GGG is really big on loot and creating the experience where players wait for another big drop. Once I traded for a staff and garb for my Monk to allow me to progress, both for 20ex, which was cheap at the time (same kit now seems to be selling for more), I thought: 'ok, I will reach the top maps and things will finally start dropping. I will replace the staff and garb with something I vendor buy/make myself'. Nope. Loot is still bad, bad looting experience has now been basically half of my time with the game so about 40-50hrs of NO GOOD LOOT dropping/appearing via any means available except trade. I tried and keep trying them all: gamble vendor, checking every time I level up with normal vendors, Expedition vendors, use orbs on promising bases, reforging bench. Nothing yielded result close to what I traded. I even went to lengths of trading exalts for any type of other currency e.g. the re-rolls on the Expedition shops to see if that gets any better... Rolled quite a few and realised it's just another way to roll loot based on the same, exceptionally strict rules applicable everywhere else in the game.
It's a good thing I like the combat because if I didn't I would seriously question why I am playing this game and stop. At some point without meaningful progress, like please, just throw me a bone to keep me going, I will get bored and move on. |

Not only are the loot drops extraordinarily bad that I've seen, but bad RNG exacerbates the issue even further. Loot drops are not even close to being remotely rewarding.

I have been lucky with drops so I have seen some divs and perfects drop and I have to admit taking the loot out of a game where loot is the main appeal was such a trash idea.
It takes HOURS of setting up your Atlas JUUUUUUUUUUST right so you even have something resembling a chance at decent loot and even then you might get nothing for hours of meaningful progress which now renders that progress less meaningful. Takes the Action out of ARPG. |

A lot of trash affixes like Thorns Damage and Reduced Attribute Requirements and Light Radius should just be removed.
And the extremely overpowered affixed like Movement Speed on Boots should be nerfed, - if needed some % of the movement speed bonus just moved into default for all characters. Loot drops are so demoralizingly bad that i have stopped picking up items. Last edited by bogdanov89#0793 on Jan 8, 2025, 9:32:04 AM

Do You want to know about the real loot problems in the game atm? )
This is a messege for 0,01% of playerbase, for those who invested mirror or more in their builds. Atm there are no real farm, only pure rng. Me and 3 more 0.01% guys made an boss-killing runs with 100 div investment (we didn't vaal any tier 0 uniques): King in the mist - minus 50 divine profit Olroth - minus 90 divine profit (logbooks are joke for sure) Arbiter of Ash - + 10 divine profit Simulacrum - minus 60 divine profit Breach - we didn't run it, it's almost useless atm At the high-peak in PoE-1 with such investments i could ez farm Uber Maven and be a very rich goblin and in PoE 2 atm I have 25 exalts left xD Reminder: I have mirror-invested sorc ))) What's ur takes, fellow no-lifers? |
