PoE2: "Failed to connect to instance"

I was having the same issue, until someone mention they can login to San Paola BR server, so I did that and was able to log into game, went back to where I crashed, and logout, and now I was able to connect to Texas server into game again, hope this help with yall :D

I started having this issue suddenly, after 20+ hours of play, without any previous issues. I was on the Steam version of the game.


I froze while clearing a zone and was kicked. When I logged back on, I could not connect to an instance. I tried multiple times and occasionally got loaded in. Once in, I could not connect to any instance if I tried to teleport or port via the map.

Restarting game/computer did not work. Verifying integrity of files did not work. I decided to download the stand alone installer from GGG. That worked and I am now playing without issues.

None of the fixes have worked for me at all. This is extremely disappointing

adding my version of 'failed to connect to instance' ...

game froze on act 2, 1st instance... could not reconnect to server: 'failed to connect'...

validated game files. didn't help. chose another server: australia. worked.

Played that instance there. So far so good. Entered caravan/left 1st instance.

Tried to re-enter first instance (act2). Game logs me out automatically 'You need to be logged in'... Can proceed with 2nd lvl of act 2 now...

... but sth. is off.

edit: and trying to enter the 'Mawdun Quarry' (act2) again: failed to connect to instance..

Player with 1000 hours of poe1 here. I have had this problem many times with poe1 but never with this absurd frequency, I was hoping that they had fixed this problem and yet, as always, ggg does not learn and is completely uninterested in user problems. it's a real shame.

Got the instance issue with my untained paradise loaded with a huge xp boost map loaded as well.

went from Washington server to Cali, was able to finally load in and check my map device to see that the location was marked as failed and the map is gone.

Been having this issue off and on for like 4 hours today. Start a map, try to join into it - failed to join instance, DC.

Log back in, half the time fail to join instance on my own hideout while loading in. Then from there can't get into my map, repeated fail to join instance, DC.

Tried restarting my router per some suggestions I've seen, no luck.

Tried changing gateways, no luck.

Tried changing maps, no luck.

Tried joining a new instance via waypoint per suggestion I've seen, nothing.

This has killed like 6 maps for me today, along with atleast 3 hours of game time.


Anyone have any insight as to how to fix this or why tf it's happening?

Having the same issue in act 2, not able to go to traitor's path to do the ascendency mission line. soft locked in act 2 and cant proceed :(

I was having a lot of fun with this game until yesterday, now 90% of the maps I try to run just DC me over and over again.
I rebooted my PC, and my internet, deleted the game and its cache and reinstalled.
Its unplayable for me in its current state

I've had this ongoing since the start of early access, but it's intermittent. I think it has something to do with the map that's spawned as if I wait ~30 min and come back it'll usually work. For maps where you can spawn a new instance (Hold Ctrl when you click the map waypoint or name) that seems to resolve the issue most of the time.

Sometimes I'm just stuck waiting though. Happened to me going from Act 2 to Act 3 and there's nothing I could do but wait til it finally worked since it force loads you into the Act 3 starting area once you choose to travel there.
