POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
This may or may not be helpful to anyone but just in case:
I was getting the freezing issue regularly but I noticed it usually happened in gaming sessions where I minimized the game to access my browser on the second monitor to look stuff up or watch a video. It didn't always happen right away, but whenever I did something like that while the game was running it would freeze two or three loading screens later. I'll post here again if it starts happening again. I stopped doing that and I haven't had a freeze in two days of frequent play since. Hope this helps someone. Running on a recent gen i9 with 32gb ram and rtx 3080 in case that helps too. Last edited by alexjlopez#7449 on Dec 19, 2024, 12:42:24 PM

So here's the problem.
Every single one of your solutions that everyone posts are Anecdotal, none of them solve any of the issues and they're at best, shoddy workarounds. (my personal favorite are people suggesting things detrimental to the health of their PC saying it worked for them, or "lowered the amount of crashes i'm getting!") While i love that everyone wants to play this game so bad, None of the fixes is a blanket fix, and there's still no true root cause to what is making this happen. We're over 250 pages on one thread, and another 218 on this thread with zero responses out side of a cursory message in the known issues thread that there's a problem with misleading information about the windows 11 24h2 update. There's nothing proving that any of the things here have fixed a wide swath of people, outside of intentionally degrading performance of the client by core parking, turning off multithreading, reinstalling windows and hoping, and even then it's not fixing the problem, it's putting a shitty bandaid on it. This isn't just limited to AMD systems, it's Intel as well, and it's multi-generational hardware, not the newest AM5 chipset, not just a 4000 series Nvidia card, nothing that is linking all of these cases together aside from the PoE2 client having a serious issue programmatically taking 100% of the available CPU and choking everything out, typically what SEEMS to be due to how shaders are loaded or generated. My issue here is the lack of communication or results of almost a week of testing, dxdiag logs from users who have PM'd them to GGG. The people replying here are the ones that are frustrated enough to post, which means by volume this is probably a significantly larger issue happening to more people. I don't care that it's Early Access. Early access here should be to fix these glaring issues in your code first, via QA and bug fixing and then balance changes afterward. GGG has a large subset of people who have spent hundreds of dollars on the game, or bought a supporter pack because they believe in this company and the game, and we're getting very little return on investment. I've been able to play in spats here and there, but loading into some zones i just hard crash, in others, (looking at you, Trials) i just crash to desktop. I accept the crash to desktop, that is gonna happen, i expect it to happen in early access. However, I do not expect a crash that is repeatable by potentially thousands of users that is HARD LOCKING a machine to the point of a hard reboot to take weeks to rectify or communicate about, and it's getting frustrating seeing these threads grow in size with no communication about the problem, but a lot of fixes for balance, when you have a ton of users who CANNOT PLAY YOUR GAME. " Sorry bro but deactivating multithreading does indeed completely solve the crashes. |
|
LMAO some people's pc just Shut down during a fight with Balbala...
I Cant anymore After this issue is fixed we still face 99 other PC crashes hahahaha |

" Sorry Bro but it does not. It did not work for me. This is why the above persons post is so important. Something is working in peace-meal for different people but NOTHING is stopping it completely. Also you shouldn't need to turn off a feature just to load screens. Its insane. and the fact that you dismiss it so easily is also wild. This is absolutely something GGG needs to make a priority over balance changes to skills. |

Guys, I tried everything on this post, nothing worked, until I stumbled upon a reddit comment:
"I tried this : delete the configuration file at ~\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2 and let the game recreate a config file by launching it." IT WORKS!!!!!!!!! IGN: Vixen_Dex

" so true the communication from GGG is pure incompetence and unprofessional |

Could be anecdotal evidence, however I'm observing an interesting trend.
1. I have disabled CPU0 and CPU1 cores for POE2 with Lasso so that I dont have to do hard reset every time it freezes. 2. And here's the interesting bit: I could be playing with no problems at all one day, however The next day I'm trying to start the game and it freezes while trying to load up the login screen. I kill it in task manager and start again, it freezes again but now at login screen. I kill it; It freezes at character selection. I kill it; It freezes while logging into character. You get the idea. After like 7-8 freezes/kills like this it finally stops freezing and I can play without an issue for the rest of the evening. Something is being "cached" or loaded and I dont know what, i'm not a game developer. And yes, everytime I load the game, load between levels and etc, I can see in Lasso all 10 (bar the disabled CPU0 and CPU1 for POE) cores jump from barely 10% to 100% right way. Maybe this phenomenon can give somebody some clue, idk. Just shared by 2 cents. " +1 its fine if the game crashes to desktop its a early access game thats just gonna happen but to have my whole pc crash or get locked up even once is one time too many. one of the main issues for me is the lack of communication as the game game had been in early access for just under 2 weeks and we haven't seen any form of progress on the issue Last edited by Gorp#1064 on Dec 19, 2024, 1:16:36 PM
