Disabling BIOS won't work because the game uses 100% CPU at the loading screen, causing Windows to freeze. To resolve this issue, you can adjust the CPU affinity through Task Manager:

Open Task Manager.

Locate the game's process.

Right-click on it and select Set Affinity.

Uncheck one core for the game.

This workaround should prevent the game from freezing your system, although you might experience a slight decrease in FPS, depending on the number of CPU cores you have. For example, with a 5800X3D CPU, the game uses about 25% CPU in-game but spikes to 100% during loading. Disabling one core can stop the game from freezing, though crashes may still occur during loading, they won't lock up your system.


Naaat. Dsnt help. Only limit chance to get freez. I affinity 2,3 or even 5 cores and still - freez. When i try get manager and close process i have full freez. Only hard reset helps.

Hello everyone! I have this problem since the first hours of patch 0.1.0b. I wrote about it here and sent the dx file. Since GGG wrote in "Known Issues" that maybe the problem is with people Windows 24H2 update! It helped me! I pressed the "back" button in Windows 11 updates and returned to Windows 10. I have been playing for two days and there are no problems! I decided to play on Vulkan (it seems more stable to me) Now I play on ultra with DLSS and multithreading enabled.
It's better to go back to Windows 10 and play than to suffer and destroy your PC! I heard that for some people the return to Windows 10 did not help, but it definitely helped me, I hope I can continue to play without problems until this problem is fixed by GGG!

It looks like the problem is very serious and affects both GGG and Windows.
I am on Windows 10, never touched Win11 with the PC I play games on. This is not a Win11 or Win10 issue. The DxDiag about the error implies that the problem occurs due to improper usage of system APIs by the application.
I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do:
1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad.
2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review.
3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there.

Same issues. GGG is silent cause they already got your money.
Same issue. Game is unplayable for me right now. We need a fix ASAP.
You can disable the multithreading option in game settings every time you load, and then turn it on after loading to prevent crashes, it worked fine for me, althought it is pretty playable even without multithreading outside of towns (basically during combat) or unless there are tons of mobs (pretty usual, but currently just started act 1 cruel).

E: playing on 7800X3D without multithreading.

Dsnt work. Freez get my PC even when i do not loadin location but event when i fight with boss or sellin stuff. Playin all the time without multith its most of the stupid thing becouse of effect.
4070 OC + 7600x3d + win11 h24

the hard freeze just started today for me and renders the game kinda unplayable, also since today i randomly get CPU spikes up to 40ms and my fps goes down significantly... bit frustrating ngl
At this point they should be sending a video or a full and detailed post explaining:

1) What went wrong.
2) What they are doing to fix it.
3) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in their testing period.
4) What they will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue.
5) Estimated time of fix.
6) Whether refunds would be available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game.
