Hard crashing PC locks up
" It is currently 13/14 days of the two-week anniversary of this poe2 crash. Poe1 users were predicting this will happen on launch day (December 6) weeks before (November 20 - December 4) Those dates are from a discussion under bug reports for POE1 Last edited by godimpulse#1516 on Dec 19, 2024, 1:55:45 PM

" Could you please link that thread if it is not a bother? Furthermore, I ask anyone who sees this message to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam. |

" I just want to say thank you for your service. Keep up the fight! |

I added a new build to PoE Uncrasher that should avoid false positives from virus scanners, but it requires .NET 9 to be installed on your computer. I don't remember if this is something that tends to be installed by default nowadays. But if you have issues with it getting flagged as a virus, that can be used instead.
As a reminder, if you run this tool it should prevent freezes from locking up your computer. If you run the tool as an administrator (rightclick -> Run as Administrator), it should automatically recover PoE when it freezes. https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher/releases/tag/v1.2.0 |

" I can't say for sure, but if the issue is related to Auto HDR, I think it's worth testing the setting. Make sure the color depth is set to 8-bit in 'Advanced display' on Windows and disable HDR in the monitor settings. |
|
" I don't even have a support for Auto HDR in the system, but have dead lock freezes on load screens. I believe it all happens when game is creating location objects during the loading. And if there is a certain object to be created during the process, it overloads the cpu due to some recursion in the code, etc... PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players. I've been only having these PC-lockup hard crashes since Build ID 16767915, the update released on Dec 17th. Haven't had catastrophic issues like this on the older patches, just some crashes to desktop maybe, but not a full hard lock. Now I get locked up every session I'm playing more than an hour or two, really annoying. On a 7800x3d/3080/win11.

" The thing is that on Dec18 there were also a several PoE2 patches which also fixed some instance crashes. And as QA i know very well that sometimes by fixing one bug developers bring 2 another. So you can't say for sure what is the reason - new changes with a game patch or new Win11 build. You can revert to previous Win11 build version, and see if that helps. I would do it myself but removed the old files after update :/ PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players. " This is not a Win 11 issue. We have people here that reverted and then crashed again. We also have people here that were already crashing on the reverted version. Furthermore, I ask anyone who sees this message to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam. |
