Hard crashing PC locks up

Had problems with pc reboot in this game windows/linux (Cache Hierarchy Error). Fixed by disabling curve optimizer+pbo in bios.

I'm no expert, but maybe this helps since I can't actually PM Tim. Here is the last info PoE2 logged before I had the full PC crash after selecting a character and logging in. Spoiler, I never loaded in. Watch out for those biceps and clavicles .

Well after reading a few posts talking about doing a fresh install and trying everything else bar finding an old version of windows I uninstalled poe2, cleaned up all the folders left behind in appdata/roaming/ - users/my games - steamapps/common, did a clean install of nvidia drivers and the game itself and after a reboot tentatively started up poe2 without any cores disabled and multithreading on. This would normally cause me to crash within 4-5 loading screens (less after the most recent patch) and require a hard shutdown due to not disabling cores 0+1.

I have been mapping since this morning and haven't crashed once, alt tabbing out, the works. The only tweak I still have in place is maximum processer state at 99% in power settings. HWinfo is still showing core usage of up to 99.9% but no lockups, no crashes and temps are down too. I waited all day before making this post because every other "solution" has worked for an hour or two tops but for whatever reason this seems to have worked for me.

If you have tried everything else in this thread and are at a loss, give a fresh install of the game and your display drivers a chance and make sure you clean up all the folders I mentioned that are left behind after uninstalling on steam.
I will be checking my client.txt later but I wouldn't be surprised to find that the various shader errors that have been preceding the lockups are no longer happening.

One of the patches prior fixed my pc hard freezes then this latest patch 0.1.0e made it x10 worse.
How can the game run flawless at 100fps+ all times, then hard lock my pc on loading screens.
Stop wasting time on balancing when your game is broken for thousands of players.

I have currently disabled Intel HyperThreading technology in the BIOS.

Previously, I couldn't even run the game because the entire computer froze at the start.

Now I can play without any problems and I managed to launch the game.

Perhaps a similar situation exists with AMD processors and SMT needs to be disabled in the BIOS.

It's possible to make it to disable 4 or more affinites instead of only 2?

Since the hard crash still happening on my intel CPU but it's less now.
I used BES which working but the peformance is bad when using it at -15% all the time.

With the new version (v1.1), if you type in a number in the window and hit enter, it'll park that many cores. So if you wanted to park 4 cores, after launching the program just type in 4 and hit enter. It doesn't save between runs of the program though, and I had stability issues getting PoE to start when parking too many cores.

Just as a quick headup: tried this manually. As may exiles posted here most of the time this will NOT avoid freezing. This will only make so you can alt+F4 or taskmanager, since not all cores are at 100%. You still lock you game down tho.


Yeah, initially it looked like all my game freezes were fixed with it, but now they came back today so I guess I just got lucky for a time. :(
Same issue, brand new PC Windows 11, way over the required GPU and CPU. I can't afford to buy another nice computer atm and I don't see them paying for mine if they break it. So I'm done with this game.
