Hard crashing PC locks up
Seriously theres something so wrong with poe2 and AMD X3D processors.
Was using my old pc fx-8320 and was able to play the EA... 1 day later, I mounted my new pc 5700x3D and now its freezing my pc like hell. Everything is updated, from bios... to win11.. to nvidia... to b550 chipset... Heres my dxdiag. https://files.fm/f/acfsnutrm7 Last edited by drk_orochi#6994 on Dec 14, 2024, 10:05:30 PM

Simply search "PoE 2 PC Freezing/Crashing" on Google, and you’ll see how severe the situation is. It’s unacceptable that GGG didn't address to this critical issue yet, which should undoubtedly be their top priority in the game!

I posted a video on YouTube to get the word out and try to shed some light on this issue for myself, my friends and all the poor souls here. It wasn't exactly well received, generating mostly comments implying that it's not possible that PoE 2 is causing crashes. It's your PC. Your PC bad. PoE 2 perfect. No issues.
My trip breaker situation that I mention in the video is certainly highly questionable, but still never experienced it happening with any other (often much more demanding) game. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZ8gXzy0ZKo&lc=Ugz2znn7clgCSyAnB2Z4AaABAg |

I was able to play all day following the advice in this thread to use process lasso, disable SMT and add a rule to disable 2 cores when cpu util hits 100% in place. It appeared to be fixed but when travelling to my hideout to sell something to another player I crashed again and after reopening the game I couldn't even get past the initial GGG cogs loading screen without all sorts of stuttering/audio glitches followed by a process crash. This happened about 6 times straight until I just I restarted my computer which "fixed" it allowing me to at least get back in game. According to my monitoring software cpu temps never exceeded 68 degrees so that's something I suppose but this was the worst crash (outside of the first two days of launch with the total pc lockups) I have experienced but also the longest string of playtime WITHOUT a crash..
I'm at my wits end with this, nothing is really working and although I feel a lot better now I am not needing to cut the power to my PC I still don't like the idea of my brand new cpu spiking from 20% to max utilization every loading screen, it feels sketchy even if there isn't any actual risk to the hardware (not that I would be able to judge that) I think I'm done until there is more word from GGG and hopefully a fix. Good luck to everyone still experimenting with bandaid fixes. |

" Whats your PC specs. If you have an intel i9 13th or 14th that would instantly end the story for me lol. The trip breaker situation i would say happens a lot more than we think during gaming in a busy house. Poe spiking usage can def do that on an already existing weak house grid. Outside of poe I would get yours checked just in case? I personally would not have mentioned it in your video knowing about the fanbase. It is also kinda telling that your commenters not familiar with the situation in this thread. |

Having same issue, I have a 7800X3D, I've disabled SMT, but still crash, seems to happen the most when teleporting (like 9/10 times, at least for me). This is really frustrating because I just want to play the game and enjoy it.
I may try to do a complete reformat of my system and see if that does anything, because my brother and other friends with same processor have had 0 crashes. one can only hope... |

Same
Ryzen 7 7800x3d, 32 GB RAM, Win 11 PRO 24h2, RTX 4080 super I was crashing then I switched to Vulkan, never crashed again, an hour ago I switched back to DX12 and I just crashed. It always happens when loading. I can see the CPU goes to 99%. I will use Vulkan until it's fixed. Last edited by Dinisa#5889 on Dec 15, 2024, 2:06:29 AM
