Hard crashing PC locks up

4090
13th Gen Intel

PC hard crashing has caused my entire living room circuit breaker to shut down 3 times now. Inlcuding two crashes to desktop.

All crashes involve 100% CPU usage. Not touching this game until I hear of some sort of fix and will also be making a video to touch light and spread awareness on YouTube.

Had the same issue, This is what worked for me:

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator:

Press Win + S to open the search bar.

Type cmd.

Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

2. Run the DISM Commands:

In the Command Prompt window, type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each command:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
3. Run the SFC Command:

After the DISM commands have completed, type the following command and press Enter:

sfc /scannow

4. Wait for the Scans to Complete:

The scans might take some time to complete. Be patient and let them finish.

5. Review the Results: (Optional)

Once the scans are complete, the Command Prompt will display the results. If any issues were found and fixed, it will let you know.

Hi bro, I tried your fix... and it says that it found damaged files and repaired them, supposedly.

What exactly does this fix?

thank you.

This is just a basic Scandisk / Checkdisc command that looks for bad OS files or bad disk sectors and repairs them automatically based on the most recent hash image of your OS. It doesn't necessarily point to any issues caused by POE2 specifically. It's mostly just a standard maintenance check/fixer. If your PC crashes a lot like many people's here has as a result of playing POE2, you might want to run this to repair any corrupt files caused by the crashes themselves.

It won't stop the causes of the crashes though.

I tried getting a steam refund but I have 9 hours played so it was denied. 15-20 hard crashes in 9 hours. Biggest waste of money ever and by far and away the worst launch of any video game I’ve ever seen. As a destiny 2 player, these guys make Bungie look good. D2 may be buggy but at least it works.

Dude get some patience it is an early access game and it is one of the best games of the last decade. You just have to be patient for them fixing it. It was never promised to be bug free and not promised to be full and complete and perfect. We don't care about the whining. We don't want to hear it.

You must not be experiencing crashes. This is unprecedented for a game launch. No game I’ve ever seen in 30 years has ever had a worse launch for this group of ppl who get their pc hard crashed.
Hmmmmmmm........

I saw a small "shader pre-caching update" downloading to POE2 on Steam this evening.

Could it in fact be the shader cache that's messing everything up for our PCs?

Is this a possible fix? Or unrelated?

Good idea to put something up on utube about this issue. Maybe clue in sites like Maxroll?
Guys I discovered a very strange thing, whenever you change your windows power plan while you're in game the FPS increases A LOT like for me it increases at least 60-70 fps and it even breaks NVIDIA fps lock, has anyone encountered this?

This PC locking freeze happened randomly to me throughout my game playing sessions, but never consistently until I got through The Traitor's Passage in Act 2. Once I hit that map transition to the Halani Wall, it's been consistently crashing for me. I try to log back in and select my character, and the loading screen will do the hard freeze. I've tried 7 times to log in with my character, and it will freeze every time now.

10700k/4090, all drivers and Windows are up to date.
Same issue, Windows 24H2, can keep mouse control, but PC doesn't respond to any input and have to hard reset.

I have the same setup, the only difference I have 64gb ram. I stopped having hard crashes. I still crash to desktop, sometimes I get a crash to desktop with po up window missing textures.
I updated my bios and left everything stock except ram xmp. Re downloaded AMD chipset drivers. No more hard crashes, still getting crashes to desktop.
In my previous bios setup I had the motherboard TdP set to max 105 watts. After I updated new bios I left it stock. Playing multithreaded no hard crashes.
9800x3d
X870e motherboard
4090
Ssd
Win 11

To all the people that have new x870e and x870 motherboards. In bios leave your motherboard TdP stock and don’t use gaming mode.

My system is:

AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d
MSI Mag x870 Tomahawk WIFI
4080 super OC
Samsung nvme SSD
Windows 11 latest build

Been crashing since day one. Never enabled gaming mode or overclocked the 9800x3d. Don't know much about overclocking and don't want to void warranty. Have EXPO enabled on a 64GB 6000 MT/s RAM kit by G.Skill and it's stable in every other application. After the third crash I just turned off the game and have been playing bug forum simulator every day since.

My point is none of the fixes listed in any of these threads truly fix anything, and your settings really don't seem to matter much. Maybe doing this or that would equate to a "minus x number of crashes" until they release a small balance patch and your fix seemingly no longer has any effect on the crashing.

Have the same ram 👍
