DO NOT make your own build in EA

"
Your builds will not work. Period.

The game was, is, and always will be, balanced against top builds.

You will never be able to pick nodes on the go, and come up with something that works.

Someone is really bad at creating builds. ^^

This gotta be one of the dumbest post i've ever seen. The game is literally brand new. Many people will be testing different things and making up there own builds as they play along. There is not going to be any top meta builds for weeks of testing and pushing... like bro wth telling people don't try new things on a brand new game is crazy. Everyone will be starting new and fresh on friday outside of early testers and i'm sure ggg is not allowing them to put out build guides on like maxed out all end game and all uniques you can put together... they leave a lot for discovery in the game even for the testers.

love how almost every poster acts outraged at a take that simply reminds what poe 1 was. grind simulator where if you re not a maniac grinder it s better to not waste your currency in sub par builds.

right now i am playing an ultra scuffed build and it s clearly harder to experience the necro settler league. everything takes longer. harder to take advantage of the league.

so the proposed approach is used by a lot of people. copy a build and experiment with the mechanics, not the build

Pure conjecture with a healthy dose of projection. Are you by any chance a d4 player?

Unless you are exceptionally good at theorycrafting, it's probably correct to say that "your builds will not work". That'll certainly apply to the majority of players who attempt to come up with something and end up hitting a wall earlier than expected.

I don't even know what I'm going to go with, but even if which builds we should aim for aren't entirely obvious, general league starter strategy still applies here, you want your league starter build to be able to function well using whatever gear the game's trash RNG affords you with minimal to no trading. Builds that function without costly build-defining uniques, just pure synergy with skill choices, support gems, and skill tree & key nodes.

With that being said, it would be a dumb strategy to go into this thinking you're going to run something specific without actually knowing how it'll work out, the smarter approach is to be flexible, and utilize whatever gets the best results, and then you can figure out later the type of build you'd like to focus on, and once more information is out there you'll at least be able to compare notes/theories with other players and make a far more informed choice about a build.

For example, if I knew necromancer would at the very minimum be "solid" with smart tree choices without steep gear requirements, I'd have no issues starting a league with a build like that, but the problem is I don't know. If I have to make a judgement call as to something to run going completely blind with literally no information, it would probably be a mercenary w/crossbow focus, heavily spec the best skill types single target and aoe, or I'd go with a pet/minion build of some sort. Both of those could end up being total dogshit though, and I might hit a wall and have to check the forums to see what others are running, and make a totally different character from scratch, but I'm prepared to do that if I need to. And I'll probably get n00b walled by the same annoying boss that people are seething on the forums about, and I'll have to join the club of players that had to run the streamer build specifically designed to defeat that said boss for people who simply can't do bullet hell mechanics.

PoE2 is not Elden Ring. You can't no-hit the game and win with a level 1, so piloting skills will only get you so far. If your problem is not enough damage, and not enough survivability, no amount of piloting skills is going to fix that. Diablo-style ARPGs are also not monster hunter, boss fights should not take 10+ minutes, if they do, you are way short on DPS.

Luckily I don't care if I reach the pinnacle content or don't and do what I enjoy myself. Main think is to learn the game. So yea I will die fail and try again, who gives a f. As long I am having fun.

This is not like a poe 1 league that you have to speed run 40 challenges in 2weeks and quit. You have plenty of time to play try your own builds your ideas. Level up multiple characters etc. If it does not work then you can take ideas from others.

always did my own builds in poe1, will do it again in poe2

screw copycat poeninja streamer slave meta, not fun

^^^ this...

Following a build-guide like a monkey and then pushing one damage button for tens of hours is making no choices, like a hamster on a wheel.

Choices = game. Choices = fun. Following = mindless boredom.

My *biggest* problem with POE1 is that the gameplay is too damn easy for too long. I don't want to waste even 6 hours doing mindless grinding. It's annoying. I want to find content hard enough it kills me. Like Vrising brutal.

Even a moderate knowledge of high school math and the itemization mechanics allows one to make a POE1 build that creates hours and hours of utter unchallenging boredom blowing away mobs and face tanking everything. Following a guide is even worse.

The worse my build is, the more fun the game becomes. (I just want very easy respecs to iterate, and at least the new skill gem system will do this. hopefully gold respecs are cheap)

Buck up.

no one actually knows wat is viable. poe2 is still a "new game" that isnt even out. there are no real build guides out yet.

poe2 is not elden ring but if you've seen the gameplay vids, its not like poe1. theres a lot of emphasis on active gameplay compared to poe1 where its more soulslike and requires you to keep moving out of harms way. poe1 you could technically cheese ubers by simply dps nuking them or just outlasting all the damage they throw at you.

from what i m hearing, ggg doesnt want that in poe2.

all that said, you could just take a few weeks off to let streamers make build guides for you and let other players play the game while the buildguides are being made.
