POE 2: Class Gender Lock is a Step Backwards
The argument is not "anyone who disagrees with me is a jerk." The argument is "all the people who constantly argue against the inclusion of gender selection based on the idea that it'd somehow break the story or that it Fits GGG's Vision or such are being deliberately hypocritical." Because GGG gas no "Vision" where this matter is concerned, given the build freedom given us and the enormous pool of utterly immersion-shattering MTXes.
A male Witch is utterly unremarkable next to someone MTX'd to look like the entire Scooby Doo gang at once, all these people know it, and yet they continue to employ these terrible nonarguments. People in this forum have a HORRIBLE history with this subject, and their 'reasoning' honestly has a very strong tendency to be thoroughly foul. Every time I see one of these threads I have to sigh, because I know somebody with an earnest desire but less knowledge than I've got is about to be driven away from the game completely by several pages of absolutely heinous shit. Is it far too late for Grinding Gear to do this in 2? Yes. Sadly. Does that mean it's not worth doing? Absolutely not. And no, selling players a hundred-dollar MTX to do so is not the answer. This isn't some esoteric functionalities nobody does. This is basic game design these days. |

Both genders are represented. Take your pick.
You can formulate your sentences in a fancy way, but if you're going to preach, you will be called out for it. The entitlement is just astonishing. If you don't like game A for reasons X,Y,Z that's fine. There are other games to play. For the record, defending a DEI stance does not automatically put you on a moral high ground. Neither does it give you the right to speak or decide for game developers what they want their game to be. You're a customer, know your place. Last edited by AlvinL_#4492 on Dec 2, 2024, 6:59:37 AM

" Your whole argument falls flat for 2 reasons. 1. Gender has no impact on gameplay. Its just as useless feature as character effect mtx. 2. You overestimate the potential gains. How exactly would the game benefit from heaving it? Would it outweight the costs of implementing it? I doubt it. There is also the whole narrative freedom at stakes here. GGG wants you to use very destinct characters with their own story and personality. Gameplay itself is irrelevant. Last edited by kuciol#0426 on Dec 2, 2024, 6:58:23 AM

" noone is being driven away by that. and calling it heinous shit is over the line. not wanting ggg to spend hundreds of dollars to make some watered down generic male / female mtx is basic economy and basic game design wich you re pretty ignorant about. you ofc wants it for free. that s what entitled people do, i want it now and i want it for free. GGG has no vision ? They literally have ton of lore in their game. I suppose being hysterical doesnt help seing it. And lore is about specific characters with specific stories wich TAKES TIME TO DO. again go play undecember, you can play some generic male female in there. This game will be more to your taste and more "up to date" with whatever fake criteria some people can come up with. Last edited by SerialF#4835 on Dec 2, 2024, 7:27:41 AM

Not worth it, it's an ARPG not a MMO or Open-world RPG where that really matters. You aren't here to build-a-exile but play as a defined exile and slay monsters. The game has a theme, has stuck with that theme, no reason to waste the resources on switching that up.

I've never cared in POE 1 so why would I care in POE 2, as has been said with armor etc you won't even notice

People who can be driven away by the lack of gender selection are not serious customers of this game anyway. It would be a complete waste of resources & time for GGG to implement such functionality.
'Character customization' can be a never-ending rabbit hole and GGG is smart to ignore this at the roots. When night falls

People aren't driven away by the lack of gender selection in PoE2. Or rather they ARE, but that's not what I meant when I said that.
People are instead driven away by eleven pages of hate-fueled bile in response to an innocent desire for a standard feature in many games. |
