Alternate game mode for casual gamers

If ppl are interested in an actual discussion why this is often not done have a read on this:

https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2017/12/ask-riot-urf/

Easymodes in games make players burn out quicker and less likely to return.

https://www.misplaceditems.com/rs_tools/graph/?display=avg&interval=month&total=1

Its also a pattern that can be observed with OSRS "leagues", which are basically temp modes with higher drop rates etc. The bumps in Nov 2020, Jan 2022 and Nov 2023 are all these bumps and they all lead to drops in the comming months.

From my understanding this is why GGG is generally hesistant to put "easier" modes out anyhwere and why private leagues and race events are usually on the more restrictive rather than the less restrictive side compared to SC trade.
Asking for something to be a bit easier in a separate game mode is not asking for free stuff.

its interesting. very interesting that mashgesture is so invested in going against this suggestion even tho it wont hurt his current or even future enjoyment of the game in any way.

if a new game mode was implemented exactly as what op described. how is this taking anything away from his enjoyment?

with so many responses of no this or that.

dude. stop for awhile and think. IF this was implemented. how will it even affect YOUR current enjoyment of the game.

players who play on easy mode will be on a separate league/mode and cant interact with you AT ALL.

their achievements (or lack of) would not impact you either.

its ok to just sit out of the conversation rather than just come in to brush off everything anyone has to say.

i do that all the time lol.

for me personally, i wouldnt be interested in playing this mode. but i would be happy it exists for people who want it.

in fact i would even argue that we shouldnt give players items that negate stuff like maven memory game even in "easy mode".

in fact i would argue that certain mechanically hard (requires a high amount of player skill) be nerfed or even removed entirely. but even then thats a separate conversation.

when mash and pashid casually say "oh just play standard" as a response to OP, i know i ve made the correct choice to not take them seriously because they dont even care to understand what people are asking for and easily dismiss whatever opinion that OP originally brought up.

all they do is wastes everyones time including their own. they dont like the suggestion even tho it has ZERO impact on them if implemented.

Well this takes a bit of critical thinking. As this response shows a very surface level understanding of the pushback given.

Look at the suggestions again by the OP.

The player is asking, on an order of magnitude, for a mode that devalues and takes away any and all challenge.

This means that pinnacle content, doesnt mean pinnacle anymore.
Aspirational content, doesn't exist anymore.
Challenge and overcoming obstacles through skill and play, doesn't exist anymore.

"I want to engage in everything that the top players engage in, but not have to put in any work they did"

Not saying im a top player for ... beating maven, and not failing the memory game. But I guess in terms of the OP thats where I lie on the spectrum of skill.

There would be no reason to create this dynamic. Of some separate game mode, where people have a cheat death option so they can ignore a boss mechanic meant to be punishing. And many other over the top suggestions that would compound with something like this.

These suggestions are taking AWAY from the top end of players, because ... apparently they shouldn't be rewarded for their efforts, and just GIVEN to the lower end through a "easy mode".

I would agree if these bosses were just a challenge.

But since they also hold exclusive drops, many of which are the newest items with newest mechanics I can't as I don't agree that a worse player has no right to enjoy newest additions to the game unless they buy those off trade at cornered prices which this dynamic creates.

If you think the prices for these Uber uniques are high because of "cornered prices" you will have another thing coming if you ever get around to farming them. The margins on running bosses are heavily negative until you hit the 1/100 super rare drop. There was a guy who lost 200 div/hr doing uber eater because he got unlucky on nimis drops.

Generally you can buy all but the most expensive boss uniques for cheaper than the cost to farm it yourself, since the fragments are priced around the rarest loot. And even on a hypothetical "easy mode" you would need a lot of patience and deep pockets to actually get those chase uniques.

I'm not sure what to say to this, Who are the top end of players and what are they losing by an entire separate game mode being added?

i actually agree with you that on all you have mentioned. but you missed out something important. which is easy/casual mode is its own thing. the characters and gears cannot be converted into standard or any other league anyway.

as for achievements wise. achievements in poe are mostly "carryable". so we already lost a lot of value there.

so if we're going from the "achievements" POV you still lose nothing. people who win hard encounters on POEasy, are not able to brag about it. no ones gonna take them seriously. its like grumbling when a player wins a game on easy mode. bro, no one cares for the people playing on POEasy. and the people playing on POEasy probably doesnt care if people dont acknowledge their "empty achievements". all they want is to have fun playing poe.

similarly, people who achieved level 100 back before the war of atlas was a huge achievement that took literal months. now people are getting to 100 in what? 1-2 days on a fresh league to start?

i still respect those who reached 100 from the old days much more than those that do now. i still respect those that do now just a tad less than those from the yesteryears.

you have really nothing to worry about when it comes to achievements that count. for real. some games have easy mode. i pat the backs of whoever finishes the game on easy but i cheer for those who clear it on super megadeath mode.

Its really simple.

If everything is easier, on the magnitude of this new mode, that the OP wants.

Why would anyone, including myself, play the original game? There would be no point.

This isnt comparable for current Hardcore/Softcore. As you just cannot die at all on hardcore.

I could just load up this "easy mode", not die to punishing mechanics, since they are not punishing anymore, get level 100 because there is no punishment or little for dying and be done in a week of play.

And whatever else is added, because maven memory game not being punishing I am guessing is not the only change they want, lets be real.

You are actively ruining a mode (normal), to create this false fantasy of a mode (easy) that took away any and all challenge that existed in the original game.

You realize this is 1:1 the problems seen in WoW/RS??? Why do you think more people play classic in both instances?

Not because its easier thats for sure.

So it affects everyone. Whether they interact with "easy mode" or not.

Normal mode will just turn into a ghost town and then we will arrive at the same thing we are currently discussing. Needing more challenging content, but then having re-tractors saying its too challenging and they need ANOTHER mode to make it easier for them.

Interesting theory but wouldn't you go to normal mode if easy mode was boring to you? I certainly would. A good example of this is Warhammer 3 total war where the majority is playing on legendary difficulty and not the easiest setting.

You spoke a whole lot about good players, challenge etc. But then you say you would play easy mode too. Why? Aren't you a a better player?

The only way normal mode turns into ghost town is it there a general consensus among majority of players that the normal is game too much. Aren't you indirectly conceding this to be the case and that majority of players are only playing it because they are "forced" to by not having a better option?
