I think this is hilarious and shows the problem with games today. The guy has been playing in a guild for 12 years, always in softcore trade. With a guild, he plays 20h/7 always with a meta build and says he wants to be challenged??? GGG made the HC mode, the SSF mode, the Ruthless mode, but you play in softcore trade??
My friend, even though I'm a beginner programmer, I know how easy it is to make a player die. I know how to program a progress barrier that declines after a while of playing. If you play something for 12 years, 20h a day, and it's not easy for you, you have a problem. So what games do for you is create progression barriers, and THAT'S what the t17s are in PoE. They're just barriers that fall after you've played 200h~300h, that is, if you don't use xploits or buy items with real money. If you use this, this barrier will fall even sooner. The problem is that those who don't have these 300 hours will be stuck in a monotonous game with no progress and no meaning. No matter how much this barrier is raised, inevitably the no-lifers will pass it, and the softcores and casuals will realize how stupid this is and BOTH will stop, and that's why the POE leagues are systematically dying faster and faster.
I work all day (and not sitting around playing a game on a stream). When I turn on a game, I want ENTERTAINMENT, I want to have fun, not to be "challenged", because that doesn't exist in a PVE game, especially in a SOFTCORE game with 12 years of life playing with a meta build...


Please, srs is offmeta, barely 0.5% use, more people use spectral shield throw. If you don't want to put any effort that is fine, but for that you can watch a movie, or if it has to be a video game, it can be diablo 3.5, as there you also can have "fun" if you don't want to be challenged by the game. Me on the other hand, I don't find "fun" or entertainment in idle clicker games. T17 are content that fall off after we finish campaign, thats how easy they are now. I have 2h to play after work on working days, so yeah... No idea why you think anyone need 20h/day to beat PoE.

Also I have no idea why you pull out that I have account for 12y and you for 11, and that I play in a guild (so do you), so what, you should be blasting t17 by your metric and have 40/40, right?

No, t16 are perfectly fine in terms of loot, but you would have to run them to know that, and your challenges says you don't.

Oh my god I can't believe someone could say T16s aren't worth it anymore while I make 20-30k gold per T16 I run, besides the phat loot. At least try to keep a minimum level of seriousness, guys

Poe has several hundred 3D model microtransactions, but adding less ugly 125x100 portraits is beyond GGG abilities? Poeninja uses better Ascendant portrait, wish they had at least added that one in game.
And about RP in ARPG, it is GGG who style themselves as soulslike prodigies of arpg genre, and torture both themselves and players with designs like T17 and constantly yanking lootrates between content.

If they had just forgotten about their Vision and stuck to entertaining their players rather than abusing, many problems would've went away.
As a side note, I've completed elden ring and the dlc without ever experiencing such frustration poe brings when you are suddenly oneshotted again. Actual soulslike still allows you to play the way you like, will all the style points if you need them.
Because Elden Ring can be a very easy game if you choose it to be :) On the other hand, you tried to make a build and it seems to be unplayable, it was your choice too. Do you see the analogy? :)

It was very much playable before, I've cleared the Feared with it, on 0% phys mitigation. Then GGG decided to add another floor to the building, and made it unplayable on that new top floor. It would've been fine, but they've also moved loot to this floor, and economy soon followed.

Situation repeats every major patch: new content arrives overtuned, people rage, GGG grudgingly tunes it down a bit, trying hard to keep the most valuable rewards away unless you rebuild to what happens to be performing best this patch (usually super weird like dragging endurance charges to right side of the tree). This is what I meant by "torturing both themselves and players". T17 rants mirror AN going core rants from 3.18. Is this a game or a job?
Feared is super easy if you simply have enough DPS. I did juiced Feared on an Icespear Totem Hierophant that had 3k life and uncapped resistances before.

Good. Key difference is, "You can play as you like", vs "you need to get mitigation to the teeth or you die". Pretty much like in Elden Ring "you have to respec to greatshield + scarlet rot spear to beat second phase of Consort Radahn":) It was the only place in the game where design quality failed, FromS really overdid that boss.

Hate the fact that 99% of yellow drops are still absolute garbage, even in T17 maps.
