Can i buy POE 1 as an offline game
" I only brought these up to point out that there's a myriad of reasons why a crash can occur. What I see a lot is people putting blame on "whack code" when they didn't cover the basics on their own system The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" Editor already exists also. Kind of. A 15 year old project is bound to have a toolset. While not necessarily sleek and ergonomic, its purpose is to allow level/quest/model designers (which are often not programmers) to make changes. Usually only a minority of staff works directly with the source code, be it servers, client, or said toolset. |

" Thats exactly my point, it would require a lot of simplification and work if it would to be used by players who think PoE is too complex (because I assume those would be the target audience). It would be a big cost with both short and long term loss of profit - turning game from live service to offline. Not to mention rewriting server side for consoles, or can PS4 players set up their own servers and use mods on consoles (and can you tell me what architecture does it use on PC)? For now, cost of it, does makes this whole endeavor worthless, to make it for small audience that is ssf crowd. Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed" I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like. " They have a toolset, sure. They have shown in live presentations that they are able to change things on the fly, like giving fireball +1000 chains for a demonstration of what it could be like. But why would they give up control over their franchise? Precedent has shown they are very protective even over little things like the UI and where things are displayed, like healthbars and such. The request reminds me of when Kopogero insisted that GGG should pay the players to play their game LMAO The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge. " How did you guess my thoughts?!:) This is exactly how it feels, pushing through newest overtuned-just-in-case-content, dying to things beyond your control or even reaction time, taking the "justified" penalty for it (and no rewards comparable to time spent), breaking your hands on archaic inventory/crafting, sitting through trade spam, and constantly feeling how skills you'd like to play role-wise do suck "just because". If you don't like the game in its current state - stop support and leave it. I decided to support Bohemia Interactive (95% of my time in this game is modding SQF/Enforce scripts) and I like it very much. It allows me to CREATE things like I want. I am not bound in outdated "vision"(c) from 90's. We're working with the game developers together, directly right in the Discord deciding what we want to see and how it should be implemented. This is completely next level of interaction with the community. On the other hand PoE is so archaic as someone proposed to return in 24 y. A.D. :D
PS If you BI guys read this, thank you very much for your efforts. I love how you built the things around the platform and not just a FPS game. It makes the project alive after 20+ years of development when every single member of our community has a chance to bring something new. I promise to buy your next (c)DLC as usual :) Last edited by cursorTarget#1174 on May 12, 2024, 3:52:00 PM

Their whole financial ecosystem is built around online, temporary leagues, MTX sales and online hype/advertisement around league start. Why would it be in their best interest to let players leave that ecosystem? I mean, they don't even care about standard league.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

" More specifically about day 1 of league start, this is the main selling point. I think this opportunity of accumulating hype is why they refuse to run PTR and hence are willing to deal with occasional situations like this league's 5 known exploits in a row. However offended people may feel about mid-league hotfixes/nerfs, GGG already got their money, and in this picture player negativity is merely a fallout to be contained. After all, such grindy and punishing game was never meant to entertain, right?:) |
