Can i buy POE 1 as an offline game
I honestly don't know if our CPUs could handle it. I've tried a 7900X, 7950X and a 7800X3D and they all take a beating from this game, which is aggressively server-side in terms of almost everything; damage, movement, ai.
Real reasons though MTX. You really think tencent is going to let their investment be squandered lol? The biggest gaming company in the world is going to give out...free, offline copies of a live-service game? Imagine the impact to the social credit scores of the related people at tencent, if they were caught letting that happen. If you owned 100% of a restaurant chain, would you accept staff giving out free food because the customers said the frozen meals they ordered online weren't as good as the ones made fresh? No. You'd instantly fire every staff member involved, and all managers that let it happen. Additionally People would cheat engine their way into putting whatever mods on whatever items they wanted, instantly get bored, then stop playing. It's so easy to modify almost anything in any game by just playing around. I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.

" I get your point and yeah China is afterall involved in poe. Not sure we can compare a game to food though. if i go to mcDonalds and buy a hamburger, that hamburger is now mine to do whatever i want. If i want to remove all tomatoes and salad and only eat the burger with the bread that is up to me. A staff member cant come and say no. About poe as offline i think thats also up to everyone what they want to do with their purchase. You talk about free food as if poe1 as offline would be free ? I never said that ggg was supposed to do it right now but if the game dies, why not making the last money they can get from it and finally we can play poe 1 in a more fun way. Modding is a problem with offline games. But again, up to everyone anyway and poe 1 is probably pretty old before we see offline versions of it so whatever really. I am not interested in fake items but i totally understand some people are. So for me i would use the in game editor i have and nothing else. Since the game is offline i never play or interact with people that do use mods, so why should i care then. Perhaps devs can make a block against mods or something. Make acount bound items that cant be modded or something, i dont know but something. Some games have become pretty good with mods like Skyrim for example, maybe poe1 has potential too i dont know, for me i dont care much either way to be honest. 1 thing is for sure i dont like playing poe1 as it is atm with all the lags and "unexpected discount" well its not unexpected.....The most annoying thing is the long lags that results in death. This and the other things i mentioned in this post with the game which pushes me more and more away. So how does Grimdawn an really good arpg do it? that game is offline. The game is not expensive either. It has been a lot of work making that game too, maybe they are rich and dont need to earn income of the game. Even if ggg need to do some work on poe1 to get it offline, it should sell atleast the same as Grimdawn and i bet much much more and that ggg can probably sell it as a full priced game minimum since its so big, and with my idea with the editor probably even more. Another thing, if poe1 becomes offline, ggg can fokus 100% on poe 2 or/and other games. I would love to see ggg make more games, arpgs and rpgs, adventure. Maybe even a card game like magic the gathering based on poe. That can be many many cards. We shouldnt be afraid of changes because something very very good can come out of it. Imagine the poe1 team starts a new arpg project since its 2 dev team in ggg, making poe1 offline maybe they can do other stuff, maybe ggg hasnt made their best game yet? maybe they have learned so incredible much about poe that their next arpg is the one we actually want, we just dont know it yet. |

" You bought MTX in a game that's free. What you technically own is on a platform you have no rights to. Which is why Apple Music is so stupid. You didn't pay for the game. " Nobody has purchased PoE and will never be able to. " People already use any exploit possible to abuse any system that gives power/currency. You're not interested in fake items but you're going to use an in-game editor? " Unexpected discounts are great! I don't know enough about potential issues with the connection to servers in EU. I know people have issues there and have seen many people being disconnected while in parties I've hosted. It's unfortunate, though I cannot place the blame of something I don't understand. For example, even though we have much worse buying power and are a smaller country, internet speeds and connection stability in NZ was built up quicker and has always been better on average than that of Aus. " Grimdawn is nothing compared to PoE and you know, if you're good at something, never do it for free. " PoE is too niche' in the gaming community as a whole for cards etc to take off. And it would be a deck of 6000+ cards. A very flamboyantly colourful, campy mobile game could sell well in asia. " Where are you derailing to? I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.

"I mean... with the quality of the past couple leagues They've sorta have |

" Actually this is quite simple. You run the game client and it launches a local server process before launching the game itself. The client then connects to the local server. Many online games with an offline mode work like this. |

" "Simple" he says without knowing the implications. Besides the obvious problems with exposing server logic to a massive playerbase and handing people more tools to find exploits, the actual work involved with getting that to run well performance-wise is a huge investment The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" Imagine a local server with 2ms connection xDDDDDDDDD no spikes or latency, nothing just your imagination is the limit to the fun you could have in the game. We should not seek to use this power to change those around us, no... This power is a means for us to change ourselves. I mean if OP really insists. Maybe GGG should think about it.
OP hasn't stated how much they're willing to pay. That deal could fund PoE2 for a few years! Last edited by Sadaukar#2191 on May 8, 2024, 7:53:41 PM

Once you understand that PoE is not actually an ARPG then you will understand as many have already said, that will never ever happen.

" Is it though? I'm not claiming to know anything about game dev work, but there's been plenty of online only games that have been cracked to work offline. Afaik, you don't have to 'rewrite the entire client', because you just fake the connection and the 'server' is just your pc. How much work would that actually be? I don't know. But I do know that I'd pay a hefty price to have PoE1 as a full offline game. |
