Those of you who are worried that PoE2 is straying too far from its roots...

I have one, very simple question

as a player who likes poe 1 and its fast-paced gameplay a lot, why the hell would I prefer poe 2 over poe 1, when it's clearly way slower than poe 1 and it's meant to target a difference audience?

if I wanted "slow and meaningful" gameplay, I wouldn't be playing poe 1 in the first place. I'd be playing diablo 2/3/4, last epoch or grim dawn. so why does ggg think their long-time supporters and fans will like poe 2?

The answer is: you don't have to

The question is not whether we have to but why would we? Because many people here seems to be confident that "everyone will play PoE 2"

you didn't answer the question.

ggg seems to assume that their long-time supporters and fans will like poe 2, because they keep force-feeding us with poe 2 information, even during the affliction reveal. why do they think that?

there's not a single reason for me to be hyped about poe 2, because I love poe 1, and poe 2 looks nothing like the game I'm currently playing and supporting.

I can't even understand where all this hype is coming from. poe 2 looks like it's made for people who never played or liked poe.

Yeah I don't see how PoE2 will make everyone from PoE1 swap over, we agree there!

Whenever GGG releases a new season for PoE1 it's just a new variation of a flavour we have grown to like - Path of Exile. PoE2 will be an entirely new experience, and while I think that most will give it a shot to see what it's all about, ultimately some will find they'd prefer to go back to before

Could compare it to Retail WoW and WoW Classic, which both have dedicated player bases but also people who switch between both of them

But the classic came after, because people kept begging for the original wow experience.

Would they ever do anti-ruthless in poe 2, where everything is faster and it actually feels like poe 1? Definitely not, because I'm pretty sure the majority would be playing there and GGG wouldn't want it.

This. I see not a single reasown why PoE veteran would swap to PoE 2. We stayed in this game for so long for a reason and that reason is gone in PoE 2.

I'm a PoE veteran. I can't wait to leave PoE1 behind.

There are people who hate the zoom zoom clearspeed meta of PoE1, but they put up with it because it's still better than other ARPGs. I can't possibly say what percentage of the playerbase that would be, but don't assume that everyone who plays PoE1 would hate slower gameplay.

You've only played during Bestiary, Incursion and Synthesis leagues, and even in those you have like 10 challenges, so you probably played them for like 1-2 weeks and quit. You haven't played a single league after Synthesis. You're not a "veteran".

Someone who hates the zoom zoom meta of PoE 1 wouldn't be playing PoE 1 in the first place, and you're the living proof of it.

I mean sure, that's a different timeline you are correct, but the point stands: Retail and Classic offer vastly different experiences of the same idea, as do PoE1 and PoE2

All I wanted from POE 2 was the new gem socket mechanic, a new campaign and new characters. Thats all it took to sell me on POE 2. Now they've strayed so far off the path with the dodge roll, skill combos, dual elements, weapon swapping for different skills, intentionally slower gameplay, environmental mechanics that never work or pan out in any game, that it almost feels like Grim Dawn. I was also under the impression that all the skills from POE 1 would also stay in tact which does not seem to be the case.
