What happened to One Game - Two Campaigns?

I think it's best to reserve judgement until we actually get a roadmap on what to expect from each version. If new leagues don't coincide with each other then I don't see much of a problem, personally. Content creators will be able to stream and cover Path of Exile as a whole for much longer too, which is a boon.

Closed Beta in a year.. In a YEAR! Why..
My most hated game.
My most favorite game.
Such is the duality of man.
Demo is june 7 2024 and they will keep POE1 on life support till this.

No point playing the old shite i guess.

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks
They will still support POE1 after POE2 with different leagues for each.

Like, why stay true to your word GGG.

Oh well.
Plans aren't promises. You can't make a game and change no ideas over the course of its development.
Am really stoked that PoE 1 will continue to be maintained and receive updates. Double the PoE to play, and it'll let the games cater to different people. They can freely grow in their own ways, hopefully no toe-treading.
witch enthusiast, send occ/ele/necro builds
Shocking but definitely makes sense.

If they are able to release quality content every ~8 weeks that will be amazing.

Disappointed the beta is a year away but I respect the fact they are trying to get it right.

Probably for the best considering the massive change in pacing, and combat in general. I'm not sure the games are going to appeal to the same audiences and I think the devs realized this as well at some point.

I have not seen any PoE2 gameplay yet that looked fun to me, it looks like a tedious slog, and the huge emphasis they put on "skill combos" and dodging in today's presentation and demo is a huge turn-off. It's not a game I see myself playing very much.

It's definitely disappointing that if we want to keep playing the current gameplay we are going to be missing out on the new classes and QoL stuff though. We will have to see how much more is backported to PoE1, hopefully the new character models at least.
it got canceled.
to some degree you guys need to understand that your choices were that PoE1 changed beyond recognition or they didn't share - they couldn't make what they wanted to any other way or at least anything worth classifying as new or an xpac.

I get being unhappy that you can't play your pog character in 2, but would you really be happy if your pog character became garbage due to being forced into a game with totally different pacing?
