The point to having a no trading (and drop=destroy which is just to enforce No Trade) is to be able to allow changes into the game that would otherwise ruin Trading, such as altering the ddrop rates and perhaps allowing currencies to be transferred top to bottom (Alch to Alteration for example). If we are making NO changes to the League then I can just keep the Trade Chat closed and play on the regular servers.


So what would be the difference between a league that does no partying or trading but changes nothing to the game and simply playing the current Leagues without touching the Trade or Party Channels? If it's just to have a chance at the top ranks on the ladder then it's rather petty to make an entire new league just for that. It would also put up the 'where does it end' question since why not have a "melee only" league, or a "Witch with two-handed swords" league so that my specific build doesn't have to suffer to the advantages of those 'other builds'.



(Point is: The League has to offer an experience that can't be mimicked by the player. )
There's a fraction of players who like consistency and predictability: killing boss X will yield item Y.

This game really isn't for people like that.

I can't tell you how much I would love this. I would support this game for a long time if this were implemented. I just hate dealing through other people in order to be good, which is essentially the case right now in Default and HC.

And to the posts above I see, the point of the league for me wouldn't be the challenge. It would be the fact that I enjoy PLAYING THE GAME, not browsing the forums for 2 hours to find items and wait for replies. I want to find my own gear, craft my own gear, and my character will be 100% achieved by me, and I don't have to worry about anybody else interfering. On top of that, the league would be balanced where this is possible, and the best part is, it has no real repercussions on any other league whatsoever.

Well, that explains the self found league, but the league is allowing partying. The idea is that a person who wants a no party/no trade league can join the Self Found and just not party with anyone. The changes that would help Self Found would ruin Trading, so separating can make sense. What changes would help soloists but ruin Party players who are both playing in a self found?

too much emphasis on trade and player economies tends to ruin games. this is a great idea.

I'm with Dakarian in regard to drop rates.

I think the crafting system, even with the incredibly heavy RNG component, is kinda cool in that just about any item has the potential to be really good in the end, no matter how it began it's life. The problem with crafting in default and hardcore isn't, in my opinion, the RNG, but the scarcity of crafting components, i.e. currency drops. At present (and bear in mind that the following is merely based on observation around the forums), in order to maintain a currency pool sufficient to roll maps or try to craft gear one is all but required to acquire orbs via trading. If currency drop rates were increased across the board in a self found league, crafting with the RNG can become far more viable as a substitution for trading and still allow GGG to maintain the desired rate of high end gear acquisition. I don't even think any change to crafting probabilities would be called for if currency was available at a rate to make it less foolhardy to attempt crafting.

if GGG would implement a league with raised drop chances and absolutely no trading possible i think i would come back to poe.
