I really do hope the new currencies give _ONLY_ elevated mods and not new ones :D As I spent way too much currency this league trying to mimick your gear that would be a relief.
Also if the coming changes will be something like the newly announced unique staff I don't even care about the ignite nerf. That staff is broken.

Yeah there's always a good amount of power creep in the new endgame expansions so I'm not really concerned about the current 28% nerf.

I like that staff for builds that have a hard time scaling damage (thinking herald autobombers or hit based DD for example) but it's probably not worth without other extreme chase items *cough*Mageblood*cough* to offset the downside for more traditional builds. But that's just my opinion for now. :P
Patch notes already! Didn't see anything obviously a problem in my first ctrl-f search.

Edit: new league hype!

Problem:
Certain Corpses have far higher life totals than others, giving extreme survivability when used as a Spectre and very high damage of skills based on their corpse life.

Solution:
Lower the life of Spectre versions of monsters that have very high life totals. Their life is being brought down to match Kitava's Herald monsters. This will affect their corpse when created with Desecrate.

---------------------------

So. 360% spectre life now (Kitava's Herald). Anyone wanna show some boss kills with it?

As I read it, it should have no effect on Unearth skill which this build uses

This build does not use specters. Unearth is untouched. New amulet is potentially +40% corpse life, may not be BiS here but is still pretty massive. New jewel gives us access to any Witch Ascendancy as a chase item. This means Corpse Pact (+50% Corpse life, Shock+Chill, and some attack/cast speed. Also allows for non-shock Elementalist Ascendancy), Mistress of Sacrifice (Bone Offering=no need Glancing Blows and saves a bunch of passives), Profane Bloom (Clear), Shaper of Flames (can then just play as Necromancer), Malediction....etc...There is a ton of potential customization here.

Yeah, that's in line with my thoughts as well.

I am thinking of leaguestarting with this build, so have a few questions actually:
1) Are you going to add some leaguestart recommendations (or at least share your plan, assuming you are playing this build again)? I am mostly interested in what skills to use in acts and how (with which tree and maybe cheap uniques?) to transition to DD and how to early map.
2) Do you think ignite nerfs will make this build not suitable for Sim 25-30 farming with the same gear as in 3.16?
3) Seems like no implicits will be too useful from new eldrich currency, right? Bearing in mind that they work only for non-influenced items and replace existing implicits

Sure but unearth version requires a crapton of investment, empower + heist gem + helm enchant + enhance + insane gloves, my guess is that before getting all that one would use desecrate, right?

Now the progression will hit a big wall early on until a significant amount of currency is acquired for the unearth setup I would imagine.

The skill sure needed a nerf at the low investment threshold but this seems a bit much, I think I read it's in the ballpark of 70% less damage.

I mean yeah I started with Desecrate but I also didn't league start this. In hindsight I would (and plan to) run this as a 2nd character in the league.

The biggest hurdle is getting the Phantasmal Unearth itself. The enchant would be the next but isn't particularly difficult/expensive. From there all the other pieces are excellent incremental upgrades that have noticeable impacts as you acquire them.

Items I want to have to start this as my 2nd character:
Phantasmal Unearth
+5 Unearth Enchanted Helmet
Aegis Aurora (not even NEEDED for functionality, just BiS defensive piece)
+1 Socketed Gems item (gloves, boots, or chest), ideally would be +3 hands of the high templar or Facebreakers (the divination card set makes this a bit more plausible. The gloves themselves are crap)
Level 1 Enhance and Empower

Any other incidental +levels of dex/phys gems on weapon and/or amulet to help boost Unearth.

That's how I'll most likely start the character on minimal budget.

Or I'll just league start it with base quality Unearth and be a masochist. :D

I'm seriously considering league starting this and just running Armageddon Brand (or hell maybe Flameblast, new numbers are juicy) until day 2/3 which should be enough to get a crappy white helmet with the enchant and some +1 or +2 gems 4L which should be easily enough to carry into red maps.

The only thing I'm worried about is the alt-quality Unearth but I don't think this is going to be a very popular build early in the league.
