SSF SC Standard, I'm looking for a melee build to compliment my skele mages (want faster map clear). Is this build at all viable in SSF?

Currently got my eyes on this and LS.

Thx in advance!

The build uses a lot of uniques, but none that make or break the build. Sure Replica Wings is nice, but it can be replaced with a self-crafted 2H axe.

Success in SSF really depends on your knowledge of the game, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

If you do try it, let us know how it goes.

EDIT: The only real issue I see is getting Panopticon, because you either need the Oils or Thread of Hope, so it will take you a while to get the Oils.

hello, at the start of the league, the jewels of the POB are expensive, at what point should we have them as an objective?

Hi,

Well to get started you won't have any Cluster Jewels, so you'll have plenty of points to path to nodes without needing Threads of Hope. Also, they won't be available till people kill Sirus, so it will be a while before you can buy them, also the -11% Res ones are usually around 1 EX.

Unnatural Instinct is mostly giving you Res, so those stats can be covered with Rare gear and Tree.

The Corrupted Blood Jewel you can replace with Mastery.

Watcher's Eye with +2 impale is an endgame chase item. If you look at the toons of the people who ran the build in 3.16 that posted about their success here, you'll notice a lot of them did not have a Watcher's Eye.

So, basically, the objective is to get them when you can afford them.

Many thx! I'll be sure to update if I do pick this :)

Gl @ league start!
Hey :) I've had an opportunity to try a Boneshatter Jugg during Endless Delve for the first time and had a blast with it. I like your take on this build and am looking forward to try it out in Archnemesis.

Considering some of the 3.17 changes, I'm wondering what would you suggest pathing into if we didn't have the cluster jewels? Marked For Death notable with its new Frenzy Charge on Hit mastery perhaps? Is it even worth considering? Or something else maybe? Two Handed or Axe wheels?

Thanks in advance and good luck on league launch!

Hi,

Thanks, glad you like!

Yes, I'm going to try to fit in the Frenzy on Hit, but dunno how much traveling that will require. Might just go for Farrul's Fur instead to be full Frenzy/Power always and get the Aspect of the Cat on ring, since the Assassin's Mark mod is gone from Shaper Rings.

Besides that, ya complete the wheels like: Axe/Harvester of Foes/Lust for Carnage/Disemboweling/Dismembering/Martial Experience/Bastion Breaker. There's tons of DPS nodes in the tree to grab till you get Clusters/ToHs.

What you can also do is import your character into PoB and under the Tree page enable "Show Node Power: Combined DPS", then click on "Show Power Report" and it will sort the nodes so you can see what is the biggest DPS boost for the least traveling.

3.17 League Starting with Splitting Steel

Hi Guys,

I know a lot of us struggle with melee leveling, so I figured I'd get some League Start practice in and write down the details of how to level using Splitting Steel, since it's a very powerful skill to get started with.

I literally just ran the campaign in SSF to verify this works as expected and this is how my toon is looking ready to start mapping:

SSF Gear

Important Details
  • Why Splitting Steel? Because it has very good damage and clear early on. You can also switch to Shattering Steel later on, but it's not necessary; I was able to complete the campaign without any issues using Splitting only
  • I made sure this setup is very tanky, with lots of regen with added Vitality, Granite/Jade flasks, Life Leech and Determination. If you get any Jewelry with +Life on Hit, def try to fit it in as each projectile that hits will heal you
  • Use 1H Sword/Axe to start and then try to get a nice 2H Axe by the time we grab Harvester of Foes
  • If your DPS feels low, you most likely need to upgrade your weapon. Melee characters are extremely dependent on the DPS of the weapon, so make sure to upgrade often and to use the Vendor Recipe for Physical Damage (Magic|Rare Rustic Sash + Normal Weapon + Blacksmith Whetstone). And don't forget you can sometimes Craft additional Phys. Dmg. on weapons as well
  • If you don't have a friend that can buy Vicious Projectiles for you, you'll need to clear Library
  • I didn't use Berserk during campaign, just leveling the gem in that socket

Hi,

You're welcome!

You can switch to Boneshatter as soon as you can buy it, if you'd like, but I recommend waiting until you have good armour and Determination, so you don't take too much damage from Trauma.

Check the "Starting Maps Gear" section to get an idea of what to do if you want to map with Boneshatter right away.

GL
Now that you mentioned Trauma - I have to say I don't recall a single situation where I was obviously "suffering" from it. The highest number of stacks I ever had was 19 (in a breach) and even then I couldn't notice big hits to my health. Perhaps I'm missing something?
